Holophonic Sounds

Post by Figisaacnewton »

THIS IS AMAZING. Put on you're head phones and listen to this.

You can practically touch where the sound is coming from at all times.

Is there any way to incorperate this into BF2?

Doubt it, that would have to be a part of the game engine to be incorperated.

Sounds cool.

The new Creative XFi does this very well for 2D (regular surround) when using headphones, but not for 3D (above and below).

holophonic sounds are in a predifinied sound file, just like gun noises are. Therefore, I don't think it would be possible to get the BF2 engine to generate a new holophonic sound file, in accordance to whats happening in the game. That technlogy just isn't available at the moment.

LOL, I know right, like the various other "scares" we've had...

Lets try to keep this on-topic though guys. Any other sound suggestions?

As far as I know 3D sound is possible with BF2 as it does support EAX. But that type of 2D sound positioning seems like it would be pretty tough with the BF2 sound engine.

I'de like to see some better sound distancing overall though. Some of the sounds sound strange sometimes.

Dude, I let my Wife listen to this and I told her to close here eyes and not open them thill the door shuts, and she looked at me funny and agreed. Then she almost started freakin out. She was swatting at the air and telling me to quit it. LOL

Then, from the doorway (about 5 feet away), I told her it wasn't me and she turned so fast with her eyes all huge. She was like, "Oh... My... Gawd. That is creepy." Aaaaaaahahahahaha!!!

It's way better if you close your eyes.

I put it on my surround sound speakers (no good headphones around) and it was still pretty amazing.

It was so 3D that I was ready for someone to jump me from the direction the sound was coming from. (Had to stop it 25 seconds in) If that was in the game I would join a server just to walk around and listen.
