VOIP Usage Causes on Screen Character to Make Sound
I like the mod. It is all I play saturday morning before chores.
Is it possible to have the onscreen characters make a sound while speaking through VOIP? Ideally, the actual words being spoken would be nice, but if not that, then how about a common, "bla bla bla". It is not realistic for a guy to be able to hide and call out to comrades without giving his position audibly. Even if it's a cough, but a cough could be mis construed for the perpetual, dead, coughing, zombie guy. Something unique would be nice and the funnier the better. Even better, make it say "mine".

i like the idea of faint gibberish whispering when you activate the voip
but it might interfere with your actual transmission (your pretty close to a squad m8 and instead of hearing you clearly the forced noise overlaps with the chatter making it uncomprehendable)

But yes, I too find the idea of just a bit random chattering quite appealing.

lol dude good call.Even better, make it say "mine".
Anyhow, I don't know that it is even vaguely possible, would be a job for a skilled coder. But I see some small amount of hope, knowing that the VOIP commands are done via python means that there is a chance of some mumbling chatter or somesuch. Maybe someone with better knowledge of the python scripting could jump in here? (*Nudges Jaymz* - 'Please save me, I just pulled that out my butt')

I don't know shtit about coding, but wasn't it the case before (vanilla and/or versions ago) that you couldn't hear yourself yell "grenade" when you threw one? You could however hear other players when they chunked one.SnipingCoward wrote:i like the idea of faint gibberish whispering when you activate the voip

If you use teamspeak/ventrillo, don't you still have to press a key? or is that key separate from the BF bindings? There's always the exceptions. One way around would be to have a timer on the bound 'speak' keys and if you haven't used in 60 seconds, your character would 'burp' or 'fart'? Add the dumpster flies for location. That would solve the ventrillo problem... and if you are using the BF bindings, only other players would hear the 'chatter'.

I like the idea as well...just not sure if its possible.
It would force teams to be silent both in game and IRL as the game calls for it!
Imagine those places where a "sneak" was necessary...then all of a sudden out of no where you hear...
"Mine Mine Mine Mine!"LOL

Mind you, a suggested keymapping for TS/Vent that triggered the noise in the same way as the VOIP did (but with no other visible effect in-game) would work - assuming that it's even possible to do with the VOIP system to begin with.Jonny wrote:Different bindings for vent/TS, not accesable to the BF2 engine as far as I know. The random noise idea is just bad, that wont help.
For example, using B to talk in TS and V to talk to channel commanders in VOIP would pretty much do the same thing...
(And then bind another key to mute/unmute your TS input so when in-game you can talk to squadmembers on VOIP without talking **** to your entire clan).

It wouldn't be possible to integrate another program into it, unless it was voluntary. And who would volunteer?
It may be possible to do with ingame VOIP, and I think that's pretty reasonable, given that the great majority of pub games people are using it. Maybe it's not worth it, but it's probably at least possible.

Course it'd be exploitable and unregulateable, but so what? If you're after immersion you'd add it, if you hate using B/V to talk you wouldn't. I have VOIP on B and TS on a mouse button, so I wouldn't use it - but I'd like the fact I could if I wanted toSadist_Cain wrote:Seems exploitable in the way that I use Voice activation with TS and so I and others with different keybindings could be talking silently on TS together
Besides - outside of organised matches or 6-player clan-based squads, who ever uses TS to talk to everyone in their squad?
