Chopper Ground Speed and Acceleration

Can someone please give me a heads up on why the choppers seem to have an unrealistic (well to me anyways) ground speed and acceleration?
I have been away from PR for a while and from memory it was around 0.5 that the LB's suddenly got this increase in ground speed that we see in all the choppers now.
To me they seem to not only have an unrealistic indicated airspeed (400+km/h) but they also appear to travel way too fast across the ground as well.
Personally I don't like it but I am keen to understand why the Dev's decided on this approach so I can accept it and get on with playing.

I'm relatively sure that the altimeter works, although I don't know of any maps where 0=ground level. But current height - ground height = true height as far as I know.

Someone said 1000 speed in game is roughly 200mph, sounds about right. Not many helis will do that and most will only sustain half that in a level flight.
Its lot better then it was. When I first played oman on pr I chased down a bomber in the cobra and shot him down with my hydras

ON TOPIC: I voted for dont care, not because i wouldnt care if it went back to how it was(slow) but because i dont really care if it was slowed down a bit or kept the same.

yha we all know that you can have a 8x8km map but the middle is the only thing that can be land. now there is only so many maps you can make with limits like that. so unless we find a way, we will need the source to the refractor 2 engine, plus we could do so much if we got the soruce.

correction: it can be land but only in a really low texture.. just look at kashan's borders its really ugly ground..
