Light Combat Mode
Light Combat
Light combat mode is my idea how to bring out the real use of lighter vechiles and machineguns as in removing the element of air vechiles but keeping the heavy transport helicopter and removing heavyer class ground vechiles as in APCs, AA Tanks, and Tanks.
Vechile Part
In this mode ground Troops or vechiles would not fear an airstrike or a tank barrel but insted a hiding 2 man AT Team, machinegun fire, or IEDs C4s Mines. By keeping the heavy class transport helicopters they can lift airborne infantry around and light AA kits will be at full effect since the AA tanks are removed and the transport helicopters will provide help as gunships.
Infantry Part
In this mode all infantry kits will better come to full use as there will be more focus on AT Kits aginst Jeeps, Trucks and Structures AA Kits aginst Helicopters and the rest for infantry combat. In this mode the idea of special forces would come more to use as in they will be needed to take out AA guns surounding Bunkers and Firebases giving an easyer approach for a rapid Airbone infantry assualt. Engineers would also come more to use because of the need of C4 aginst Structures and Mines aginst Vechiles.
Constructions Part
The use of AA guns will be needed aginst the helicopters and ground vechiles and infantry. With more focus on infantry sandbags and other structures would also come to full use as there will not be tanks or air vechiles to knock it down secounds after its build.
Making the Mode Part
As far of my knowlage on BF2 you wont need to make a new gamemode and redo all your maps for this mode to work. They way i belive its possible to be done is by editing the fuction added by the makers of BF2 called "No Vechiles" option when hosting a server. My sugesstion is to edit this function to "Light Combat Mode" and setting it to remove all the banned things mentioned above making this a possibilty to all maps in all sizes. This will also be user friendly to the players meaning they can filter theyere server list down to all servers with "No Vechiles" option on.
Comments
Dont begin to flame me cause this function is seen on forgottenhope 2. Im posting this with my ideas on how it could improve the gameplay for thoes who are seeking the infantry style.

and why cant this just be done in map design? or do you want this done on lots of maps like Al Basrah etc? In the end its best just done with map design than a whole new gamemode as the gamemode has nothing different from AAS, only thing different is just that the GPO.con has a different vehicle setup.

I think it's a good idea. Basically it would allow servers to run a normal map rotation (maps like Kashan, Qinling, Al Kufrah etc.) but limit the assets to jeeps and maybe transport choppers.
On a side note, Al Kufrah would be better off losing the tanks and APCs period. The design of that map makes infantry virtually useless.

Me too. guess something happened when they updated the forum.SleepyHe4d wrote:Btw, what happened to the dang smilies? They aren't showing for me.
Anyway, exelent idea. If this gets in, then no more tank, jet and attack helo whores and/or noobs! besides, I like this game for more of its infantry teamwork. Infantry squad play is my kinda thing.

I think Rhino is right here. Map dynamics are a fragile thing. I think the real force behind this is more Infatry/light vehicle gameplay. No jets/tanks/heavy armor etc. More infantry focus. There are some new maps in the pipe that are geared more towards this style of action. This gameplay is imo the REAL bread and butter of PR. It allows for pretty realistic combat and plays to the BF2 engines strengths (map size, player number, physics etc). Once we get the infantry game updated in the upcoming patch and hopefully the realistic ballistics; then this area of gameplay will really shine. 0.7 had a bigger focus, which was great, but I think people are missing the heavy infantry action a little.
