and frankly I belive they should have them in all of the MEC maps because as far as I know the BTR-90 was only a prototype and there only like what, two of them ever produced. So really I dont know why they continue to be in game as they where the supposed equivalent APC for the MEC in vanilla BF2.PRC_Heavy_Z wrote:MEC also has it on Gulf of Omen WAC

You and I are in agreement. The largest estimate for total number of BTR-90s produced as of late last year was a dozen, with some limited service in the MVD. But the United Arab Emirates actually fields more BMP-3s than Russia. You shall hopefully see it gone in the near term.Razick wrote:and frankly I belive they should have them in all of the MEC maps because as far as I know the BTR-90 was only a prototype and there only like what, two of them ever produced. Yeah I never understood why they didn't get them on all of the maps, but meh. It's a pretty nifty vehicle.

well lets put it this way... do u feel good after puting your head in a metal bucket and having some1 bsah it with a baseball bat?.. yer well times that by 50 and thats around about wat it would be like in a light at attack on a apc... even though irl the soldiers might not die... they would be unable to fight...

100mm, not 90mm. Same cannon as on the older T-55s, IIRC. BMP-3 and LAV-25(MC) aren't in the same class of vehicles. While LAV-25 may be classified as an APC, in practicality it can only carries 4 fully equipped dismounts in the back and is used by the Marines as a reconnaissance vehicle, similar to the way that the UK uses the Scimitar. BMP and Bradley are in the same category.Deadfast wrote:Can you imagine what kind of massacre it would cause in the lines of US vehicles ?
25mm Bushmaster Cannon of LAV-25 vs. 30mm 2A42 Cannon + 90mm Cannon of BMP-3.

I actually saw this before - when I looked it up on the net I found the 100mm, but then I thought the BMP in game might be some other version or something.

Nah Eddie, its a different one. The T-55 had the high velocity D-10T/D-10G 100mm gun, where as the BMP-3 uses the 2A70 low pressure gun (as its intended only for HE-Frag shells and launching ATGMs)
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Well, the Marines should really have the AAVP-7A1 as their APC, but that's another topic (which has been discussed before, I believe).[R-DEV]Eddie Baker wrote:100mm, not 90mm. Anyway, from what I was able to dig up, the BMP is a dedicated IFV, and has only 35mm armor at the thickest point (although I couldn't find what thickness the armor kits the UAE may add onto their's would make the armor). That's even thinner armor than the AAVP (45mm--both these measurements are from Wikipedia), which has been criticized for being inadequate protection against RPG and mortars.
I think its fine to kill the infantry inside, as long as that level of protection is used to set the damage done to everything, i.e. tanks, APCs.
