Hi guys first off once again great job on pr it's really coming along now but I was just wondering what happened to the mortars? I think it would be really cool to have them. Just wondering.

Planned. Maybe 0.8, if we're lucky.

The model looks nice, but I dought the physics are any good yet.
How hard can it be? You fire a projectile into the air, it comes down due to gravity. Doesn't seem that challenging.

Gravity in Bf2 = Fail

Ask Jonny for a physics lesson...

Just because gravity isn't correct in BF2 doesn't make it nonexistent. All the projectiles in BF2 (and PR) are acted on by gravity). Just not the right amount of it.

I'm also pretty sure different objects are acted upon differently by gravity in Bf2. Not sure about that but that'd make things pretty hard to get working as they should.

AFAIK they are trying to figure out a realistic way to implement them, IE no big yellow cross hair or magic airborne camera ala POE2.

Firearms 1 had an ok method.

Perhaps it should just be automated like v artillary?

BF42 had quite an effective mortar system actually =)

give the mortars sites and have the observer in the same squad or relay direction and distance from the mortar squad or have the CO just give them a way point which gives diriction and distance to that mortar squad and the mortar squad fires at the way point...to easy.

Make them fling a grenade-like object, maybe?

This.

It wasn't finished. Apparently we can tote this mortar about.
