What happened to the friendly players

Post by krisfx »

Ive been playing pr for just over a day now and am just grasping the basics of play. But, im sick of constant abuse for things I sometimes didnt even do. What happened to all these so called friendly players to help us new people out !!

Just make sure you print out the manual so you can read it while respawning otherwise its just bad tempered players and you get those everywhere, try a different server maybe

Some people are just d*cks.

There's nothing better you can do then just ignore them. I wish you better luck next time, there really are polite players to be found! :-)

Some ppl get tired of getting the same questions over and over again from new players. Make sure you read the manual before you start playing :)

I've had plenty of newbies in my squads this week, each time i've treated then respectfully and taught a couple the basics of rally points etc. Only once have I talked angrily with a newbie, he was solo APCing and refused to return the vehicle - he had just joined my english infantry voip squad.....

Keep that TG-related **** out of here please.

KrisFX - you're more than welcome on the Tactics & Teamwork UK Server if you fancy good proper gameplay and a sympathetic server. We have regular players who don't mind helping out newbies for a while, usually. Just search for server name: "Tactics".

Drop me a PM if you still have problems getting a good game.

OMG someone yelled at me, I'm telling....

Out of probably hundreds of players, a few yell at you and it = what happened to all the helpful players? Umm I don't recall 9/10 players being ambassadors for this game.

People just get tired of all the new people that switch over thinking that they know everything and they know the battlefield better than you. I've seen several occasions on global chat where they've said .... the manual and so on. They were also solo'ing in a tank and wondering why they couldn't move the top.

1. read the manual, pick up the basics.
2. most of everyone that plays PR will help you for things that aren't in the manual yet.
3. don't fly support aircraft your first go at the game, you're only embarrassing yourself and hurting your team because you're gonna crash it.
4. most importantly follow the squad leader, you'll always be good to go then.

I still see people joining the game like they are playing a pre-internet gaming console with a D-Pad and 4x buttons that think a manual isn't necessary reading.

But, I blank any frustration from my mind about them. Someone will always telling them the key to request a kit (although it takes far more to explain the rules for getting a kit, distances from points for specific kits, need to be in same squad to operate a vehicle with someone, team limits, etc, etc)

I will of course bung in some juicy ones over voip of chat if I am hiding waiting to detonate something when an enemy vehicle passes me, such as the more complex stuff about SL's being only ones capable of spotting, and how they can spot off the map screen by right clicking and seeing all the options. Even giving tips on well travelled routes round the map and alternative movement paths to ensure my squad gets where we are going. Plus tips on when cp's are likely to fall ahead of time and how to position a couple of members of the squad ready to take advantage of these things.

You see, it is far better to to offer occasional insights into the game as then YOU are protecting your gaming in the future. You will return to the servers and find the quality of players has stepped up a touch if enough people are willing to share information and tips about gaming. It's not just the closeness of another human voice in your ears that you're benefiting from when you interact with your squad mates!

But these things go up and down, not all people will be happy all of the time with new players not reading the manual supplied when they install the game, not all players will want to repeat this over and over much like their own teachers and parents did during their growing up. There's a reason why everyone doesn't want to teach when they leave their own education path :)

As with MrD, I too am willing to lend out some more advanced tips to members of my squad. Asking things that are covered in the manual in details that would make a lawyer shit a brick will likely be met with hostility, insults, and being shot in the face.

To answer the question, SOME but not all of the friendly players have gotten rather tired of answering stupid questions from stupid people who believe they will be god's gift to PR if only they can solo a tank or take an aircraft regardless of the fact they have no clue what the hell they are doing. Read the manual and get an understanding of the game. If you want to be a pilot, start up a local server or have a friend start one for you and practice, practice, practice. When a noob demands he gets the aircraft that spawns every TWENTY MINUTES and crashes it into a wall fifty feet down the runway, people tend to get a little uppity.

What the F do you mean " where are all the friendly people " ?

Ain't I friendly enough ?

But really, walk onto a hockey rink, skates untied, stick in the wrong hands, gloves on the wrong hands, helmet on backwards, kick the goalie in the nuts, and the throw the puck at the referee ....................what do you think would happen to you in the real world if you did that ?

Oh ........ ?
You didn't do that ..... only the goalie part ( TK with APC/Tank @ long range ), and still don't understand where all the friendly people went ?

Put it another way, ever had a 4 yo ask you " Why " ?
and every answer you give them, they ask " Why ? " again ?

If so, then you know how we feel after you can't do ANYTHING because despite the fact that DL the game puts the manual on your desktop, you just started play a 2G mod w/o a clue as to how it works.

You want a friend ...........................Buy a DOG !

i think ppl get really pissed if new players stupidly waste assets. this is especially annoying on kashan... and since we can't kick half the server... it's no fun at all. but i don't think it's a problem if you join as a regular grunt and ask if you can get some help. just do what you're told and follow ur SLs orders. I would usually assign new players the medic kit and let em run with me while i explain them what is going on. if the listen and learn, it's even a rewarding experience imho.
