Map & Kit Suggestion

Post by [T]MLPatriot »

First off, I doubt that these suggestions have been mentioned before, if they have, feel free to delete my post. I don't recall reading anything like this before.
  • Map Edits
Create dark spots on overall hills in overall maps.
We all know that although snipers are equipped with ghillie suits, the BF2 engine makes it that even snipers stick out like a sore thumb over long distances. Maybe "shadows" or "dark/black" coloring could be added in various spots on hillsides to represent "texture" or holes. That way, the sniper would become much more effective. This could also be good for Infantry moving onto their objective.

  • Spotter Kit
Creation of the "Spotter" limited kit.
We've all read stories of how a 2 man unit (Sniper, SpecOp) can be very effective at sniping and spotting over long distances various enemy positions and assets. I like this idea and I believe it makes snipers that more lethal and effective. But we all know a Spec Op doesn't make the best spotter due to his combat clothing. But I like idea and here's what I had in mind:

    Spotter
    - Ghillie Suit
    - M4 Carbine
    - Soflam
    - 2 Smoke Grenades
    - 1 Green Smoke Evacuation Grenade
    - 1 Field Dressing
His role would be just that, a "spotter". He could tag along with the sniper and locate enemy positions and confirm kills. He would have a ghillie suit giving him the same camouflage ability as the sniper. The M4 would be to compensate for the Sniper's close combat short comings and the green smoke would be great for air extraction. Even without a Sniper, the Spotter kit could come very useful to any squad in need of intelligence of enemy locations. If anyone is worried that this kit would turn into an enhanced "uber leet" spec ops with camo, then M4 could be changed to a pistol.

I'm not a big fan of the Sniper kit myself, but I do believe when used properly and wisely, it's very lethal. I rarely ever use the kit but adding these little extras could be interesting. So what do you think?

The latter suggestion has been suggested before (hell, even I suggested it at one point). IIRC, the role wasn't important enough to warrant a whole new kit for it.

spec ops + sniper = your sniper/spotter combo.

get thsoe 2 on a mountain top, with a frogfoot/a-10/attack helo and you'll have a world of trouble.

Spotter?! i never use an spotter, and i think this sucks because, when they see someone with spotter kit, they know there is a sniper too ... when you're alone, you have 50%- that they don't find you.

[Edit: I don't agree with map too, you have enough tree's or even buildings that are dark too hide yourself in.]
