can never get a good 1st shot
Ive had this mod for about 3 months now, and in bolth of the patches Ibeen threw I noticed that whenever I take a shot with any assualt rifle/DMR, the 1st shot is almost always a miss at ranges of about 70m and up. ive become familiar with teh balistics in PR and I know of the tricks that every soldier should take before firing (fire when prone as much as possible, wait 3 secs for your weapon to steady, ect) but I cannot find out what to do with this problem. it usually isnt a bother with teh 5.56 rifles because i can easily follow it up with a second shot, but when playin with the 7.62, it usally costs me the kill.
I was wondering if any other players experianced this and if theres anything that can be done about it.

First of all there is no balistics in PR... yet.
Just wait 1.3(3) second dont move and shoot, aim for the head, rather lower part of it.
3 seconds is MORE than enough. No idea why you are missing... maybe moving targets, but stationary... no idea.

Yeah its youFlak Jacket wrote:It always puzzels me, espicially when i playin against the chinese. I take a shot with my M16, I missed. The shot gives away my position and teh chinamen goes prones and puts a bullet in my head. Maybe its me? I dont know...
So if you really have problems with hitting steady targets check the connection or wait a second more before you shot. If you only have the problem with hitting moving targets.. thats a mixture of training and luck

I've noticed that too. I usually like to get my squad on line before opening up, I don't just spot a guy and start dumping ammo on him without informing the squad. I usually take cover wait a good 5 seconds and watch him with my sights. Every time I fire, that first shot always skews left or right and the rest are right in a tight circle where i'm aiming. Shouldn't it work the opposite way?

True. Deviation is a good system, don't get me wrong - it makes due with what they have to work with. I much prefer it to my laser rifle of 0.5 and 0.6

The deviation is really good. But it's still to easy to kill. It's not like IRL. I'm waiting for the Realistic Ballistics. After then this mod earned its full meaning of reality!

I think that with any game the balance is between hardcoded deviation of bullets and the ability to apply the skills of each shooter to accuracy. I mean it seems that even if the shooter now KNOWS how his gun will react he cannot compensate in anyway. Unlike with flying or driving in game you cannot control the deviation except to wait and to basically expend your first shot so that you can get your more accurate 2nd or 3rd shot in.
Realistic ballistics would be great but I'm never sure whats possible with the BF2 engine.
Isn't 'hardcoded' the most depressing word for any mod community?

You might want to try this tweak to see if it makes a difference.
TweakGuides.com - Battlefield 2 Tweak Guide
Scroll down to the Usersettings.con section, and take a look at the explanation of SettingsManager.U32Set GSInterpolationTime 100
I made this tweak, and I noticed a marginal improvement in accuracy. I don't think it will help with your 1st shot problem, but it might help you hit your targets more often overall.

People can't aim, I steal kills all day long because of it. They start shooting at some bad guy I look in that direction see the target and kill it, even though my team mates started shooting first. The G3 is nasty when you figure out the sight and lead for getting hits on the first shot. M16 you should aim the first and be prepared to fire at least two more aimed shots as quickly as you can.
