Zatar Wetland v3?

Post by DeltaFart »

Yeah, I won my fourth victory on Zatar Wetlands in counterattack, and I think the MEC needs some things to counter the LB and the USs ability to move soldiers behind us. I realize I should have had people stay back for this problem but after we capped the landing sites noone really wanted to move back. Id say if the MEC get helos, to keep from strafing the carrier, a dome of death needs to be incorporated so that they cant target the carrier, but still allow ground forces to cap the sites. Just the smaller helicopters the mec have to be equiv for LB. Also, I have never seen a Zatar CA map with jets, so would it be possible to get rid of the runways and hangers? It serves no purpose Ive seen so why not expand that facility? Make it so when the USMC overrun the MEC place, there isn't a giant open place for APCs to roll into, so that infantry woud be more necessary to cap that place. Maybe do the same for the airfeild in the A coordinates?

There already is a dome of death around the carrier.

I think MEC should get a scout chopper or two to combat the LBs and Hueys in mid-air and since they don't have air assets on most maps :D

That is your teams problem.

The helis are nerfed enough on that map, if you have a somewhat good MEC team with an IQ over 10. 2 manpads, hopefully not camping the carrier like usual, many APCs and later tanks and however many bunkers and deployable SAMs. If you still can shoot the helis down, then that is your teams problem, and things shouldn´t be nerfed because public players suck or you get on team that has a commander and works better than the other.

If anything it's an accomplishment on that map if the US can manage a win. Short of having Jerry's kids man the line for the MEC it's always a hard fought battle for the USMC.

the key for the MEC is building a bunker on the central hill, combine that with assets and a dedicated squad or two defending it and it'll become an inpenetrable fortress.

the flat ground surrounding the hill makes it easy to pick off advancing infantry and APCs and a couple of vodniks and/or manpads on the top eliminates the threat of helis.

Ok true on the asset part, but still, I'd think the mec main base and the airfield need to be changed, there aren't any jets to use them, so why have them? Make it harder to defend or attack the place by adding more structures, make the mec base look more like a base and not just some random towers found in the middle of nowhere

I don't think we can change the map itself... It's a vBF2 map and because of copyright the devs are only allowed to do some specifical modifications... and buildings / terrains changes may not be allowed. Need a dev' to confirm.

well after all this IS a vanilla map audited, and its the only one that is worth while in PR (gulf of oman is too, but its a tad bit small) To actauly get this stuff fixed you need a brand new map.

I would actually like to see a f-35 B come in to play on that map, and some more mobile AA capabilities for the mec. I think that would be very interesting.

Zatar is a brilliant map. Hated it at first, have come to really love it. It's just how a combined-arms map should be; winnable from both sides, not overly-reliant on any single asset and just utterly fun :D

Honestly its a tankfest for the Mec, the US have nothing to really combat it once the counter attack happens, and both times I COed on it, the Tanks just absolutely demolished the MC. I realize the US has HAT and LAT, but when we get all their bunkers and firebases, its useless since everyone has to spawn on a carrier and the APCs just chew the Hueys to bits.
