Anti Radiation Missiles
I have seen and heard several complaints about enemy AA being as deadly or deadlier than enemy fighters. In the interest of making the fighter jet more of a escort aircraft, is it possible to make a missile that will only lock onto enemy AA? This would be an ideal replacement for bombs that are hard to aim properly on the fighters. The difficulty is that it might make AA vehicles hard to use or useless.
On a related note, is it possible for AA vehicles to turn off their radar? This would be an ideal counter-tactic, if the Anti radiation missiles couldn't lock on without radar being on.

right now there is only 2 types of target objects, 2 of them and be used online the other one is only client side. so you have heat and laser to work with, now that means if you add a laser to a aa, anything that tracks TTLaser will track it, so lgb, hellfire, ect will be able to lock onto it, now adding a heat object would create the same amount of issues, so it isnt possible.

Yeah, and I beleive there is no radar to turn off, it's just heat seeking, using I guess I flir in the nose of the missles to lock onto a heat signature and letting it fly

As far as Im concerned, there's no way to get past anything to do with Lasing, or targeting. =/
BF2 Engine was just build that retarded.... I mean stupid.

I bet if they gave us the source to the engine we'd be able to do better. Anyone want to start an donation drive to buy up that engine?

Re: Anti Radiation Missiles
There is no radar on AA vehicles to turn off. Vehicles like the zsu-23-4 and similar vehicles are absolute nightmares against low flying aircraft with no jammers.
As aircraft have no jammers, we have no radar on the AA vehicle.
If you do some research you will see that the AAA has been upgraded in terms of lethality to make it more realistic in terms of the effect of high calibre explosive rounds hitting aircraft.
There was a lot of debate at the time about the realism of this and the improvement in guidance of missiles. If you don't drop flares speculatively when attacking a target there is a good chance that any SAM system will light you up and drop you from the sky.
I would say the balance in perfect now between aicraft/copters and SAMs. No more do we have slow ponderous blackhawks and Mi-8's expecting to be able to land unopposed against well defended areas with an organised team.

Aircraft are very hard to master now in PR, and fighting well with them is equally hard, managing and selecting through the array of weapon systems available to them. I have one thing to say about that = Good. Dedicated players who fly a lot will have a lot more success than those who are casual players.HippoBirdy wrote: This would be an ideal replacement for bombs that are hard to aim properly on the fighters.

The ZSU-23 has a fire control radar. Thats how it aims its guns. Same with the Tunguska. SAMs, AAA suck right now, but the AGMs and GBUs suck more, so neither really ever engage the other that much right now. Its like a big nerf war, which is fun to some people. New stuff is being developed.

Unreal Engine 3 license is 700 000$ so BF2 engine license will be around 250 000$... still a big sumn, but its not unacheivable...Waaah_Wah wrote:Yeah sure. Anyone have a million they dont need?

Yeah Pretty much.

Whats wrong with AAV's as they are now? I use them alot and they are deadly as hell. The only thing that is "wrong" about them is the stabilization. Its so damn annoying and difficuilt to control right now...

Why exactly is the Bf2 engine cheaper than UT3 engine?Hotrod525 wrote:Unreal Engine 3 license is 700 000$ so BF2 engine license will be around 250 000$... still a big sumn, but its not unacheivable...![]()

The same reason that a bottle of piss is cheaper than a bottle of soda?

lol, I wonder how you know that.......Leo wrote:The same reason that a bottle of piss is cheaper than a bottle of soda?
I thought there was a separate thread for discussing the purchase of the engine.

At least give the choppers the deadliness they deserve.zangoo wrote:why cus realism is too hard?
Yeah Pretty much.
Right now: no stabilization, unable to self accuire and lock targets from long distance, the pr laser fails, no real working FLIR, bad physics...
Ok, its not all possible or fair but if AA is given more realistic deadly caracteristics then so should the aircraft.....
