Idle Kick and Stationary Weapons

Post by turnpipe »

I'm guarding main base in a AA Stationary Weapon in a pro- base rape server.
I get kicked for being idle.
Why not make it so punk buster detects I'm not idle as long as I'm moving my mouse or touching the keyboard.

i like that idea, tactics IRL involve ambushes and that involves sitting still for long periods of time. i dont like how everytime i sit still for like 5-10 minutes with an MG at a road crossover point covering my squad's retreat path and i get kicked. why dont they just make you start losing healththen when you move again it stops? or as said above make it so when your looking around that counts as moving.

Cause... like with MANY MANY MANY things, BF2 Engine=sucks.
Blame all further issues on the engine.

It's PB kicking you, not the BF2 engine. Believe me, EA wants people playing indefinitely so they'll become permanent buyers. :p Seriously, they do make money on ranked servers, so more people playing, more servers, more money!

EA's not evil, they're just like every other company. They want money.

burn the heretic

So does PB only detect you are 'there' if you actually move someplace or fire? that seems pretty odd.

Toasty! :p

Hmm, one time, I went to make myself a sandwich, so I moved forward and pressed 'H' to bring up the All chat line. A little trick you can use if swimming long distances and you want to do something else. ;) Anyway, the sandwich took longer than expected, 10 minutes later I found myself with 5 new deaths. Tip: disable your spawnpoints before making a messy mayo sandwich.

PB didn't kick me for idle, and that server being a frequent haunt of mine, I've been kicked for being idle for 5 minutes. So soldier movement itself in the game will keep you from appearing idle. But you have to be moving forward, backward, left or right, mouse movements alone haven't been proven to prevent the kick.

May be they can put in a little bump like a pinball game.

I didn't realise this happened. But since it does, how come this doesn't happen with all other gunning roles where you don't use your keyboard much?

its just the stupid rules of servers. For example, even with valve, i was playing tf2 as a heavy and just firing for 2 minutes next to a dispenser, i got kicked for that...

try and avoid it, like take out your knife everynow and then and just hit that. i found that to work

Basicly, if you need to go afk, Aim yourself at a VERY slight incline at something long that you cant pass (Like a Runway or a fence) And then just Press and hold W, and then press any Chat. let go of W and you'll keep moving.

For Stationary weapons, the best thing to do is just get out of it every so often. =/

There may be a few people curious about what happens when your in a stationary anti-tank gun while playing for the Militia.

Please note that even though pressing the "W, A, S, and D" keys, Punk Buster will still consider you to be AFK while interacting with the gun. You must dismount the stationary anti-tank gun first, then just move about every 2-3 minutes and hop back on. Rinse and repeat as necessary.
