RTFM!
Especially with the new spawn time changes, I think it would be a good idea to have on the "files" page something that says to read the manual because of how many new changes there are for Project Reality, and then on the download page the top should say "READ THE MANUAL BEFORE PLAYING ONLINE."
Easiest way to avoid new people quitting or bitching about the incredible spawn times, and I'm surprised it hasn't been done yet.

Re: RTFM!
And that is still not enough apparently. Perhaps n00bs just figure it to be like a readme and ignore it.

Tell all your noobs to come to TCombat. we dont mind filling in the illiterate ^_^
The wiki needs to be updated a bit, and i think somwhere on the install screen it should say to invest the next few minutes after the install in reading the manuel.

Maybe you'd have to put in a password to validate the installation, a password that can be found in the manual.
Seriously though, all I'm asking for is a large, unmissable, notification on the download page. Should take about 5 minutes or less to do.

Ok, i think the best solution this problem is that instead of getting the black sceen of death when u die in game, BIG red letters should be there saying "If you have died and you dont know why, you should definitely READ THE MANUAL"
Or something like that...

Re: RTFM!
Something like that (password) could be done like the TG password night Flash video, forcing the new player to wait through the Flash animation for the password. If he decides to minimize the browser window, we can ensure that the password is not actually at the end of the video, but somewhere in the third quarter, forcing the player to pay attention the first time.
The best part is that it has to be done only once, unlike that annoying TG password night video.

Re: RTFM!
A good idea might be to, sort of, "force" a download order on the user. You click the download link and the first thing to download is the manual. That way, you can read it while you wait for the big download. You're not 'forced' to read it, but you dont have too much to do either, so you might as well check it out.
Not only would it make the big download time seem like less (if you're reading that is), but it will also be more productive.
Slick would have to look into it and see how to do it, and if he has time for it.

Re: RTFM!
I'v got a pretty good idea that I think could stop threads like these. How about people stop thinking they are awesome and leet because they know all there is to know about the current version of PR, and stop whining everytime someone new to the mod does something nooby. You CANT force people to read something before they play the mod and to be honest. I'v never opened the manual ever, I learnt just by playing, let the noobs do the same. Just because they read something doesnt mean they arent going to f*ck up anyways when it comes to give it a go in game.
Just laugh it off and get on with your game, to many times I see people bitching for hours and hours.

You're most probably a noob
