Fast roping

Post by Colt556 »

No this isn't a suggestion, so don't go hating lol. The other day I saw a video on youtube, of players fast-roping out the back of the brit transport heli on Al Basrah. They threw their grappling hooks down and climbed down. I was wondering how, as fast roping would be awsome.

Also, I was wondering what the deal with fast-roping is. I've read a couple threads on it and I've heard a lot of "No's" but since all those threads were like a year or more old, I was wondering if someone could give me an up-to-date answer on the whole thing, is it even possible?

I gotta laugh, but I just woke up. Someone else will explain.

welcome to the forums, attaching actual ropes to vehicals in the bf2 engine is impossible, or very very buggy. Its just how to physics engine works.

A word to simplifiy all that has been made, its called "hardcoded", aka python (the script devs use to MODify the engine) does not allow them to change this aspect of the game. Thats why you see many people saying they want the source code. (in order to totally change the engine, this code is needed) Hardcoded is used for many other things, like the amount of destructables in a map, etc.

Ok, thanks. I've been around modding communities alot n whatnot so I know what hardcoding is, and I know what a real ***** it can be, I just wasn't sure the exact reason why fastropes can't be used. Shame game companies gotta go n hardcode things, would be nice if EA gave PR the sourcecode :x

Fastroping is impossible due to hardcoding, as has been said. You can throw ropes onto helicopters and it'll look like proper fastroping, but it is not and is, at best, very buggy.

I'm glad you had a search around, but the answer is, unfortunately, still "no".
Oh, and since the choppers' rotors don't have collision meshes, they won't hit buildings, enabling you to land in narrow alleyways with a big huge UH-60, and so fastroping doesn't really have a point either.

Now that all questions have been answered, I'm afraid this'll get the lock like the other fastroping threads. :)
