Any Way to Change Detonation of IEDs?

BAE SYSTEMS RECEIVES $7 MILLION U.S. ARMY CONTRACT MODIFICATION TO PREPARE BRADLEY COMBAT VEHICLES FOR COUNTER-IED ELECTRONIC WARFARE SYSTEMS

17 Jan 2008 | Ref. 015/2008

YORK, Pennsylvania - BAE Systems has received a $7 million contract modification from the U.S. Army to prepare almost 1,700 Bradley Combat Vehicles to receive electronic warfare systems capable of jamming the detonation of roadside bombs. Under this contract, the company will manufacture and install the A-Kits, which are the assemblies used to mount the system, onto 1,691 Bradleys.

The system, called the Counter Remote Controlled Improvised Explosive Device (RCIED) Electronic Warfare (CREW)-2, is manufactured by Syracuse Research Corporation and is designed to counter a wide range of RCIEDs.

"The installation of the CREW system on Bradley vehicles will help prevent the detonation of remote controlled improvised explosive devices," said Andy Hove, vice president of Combat Systems Programs for BAE Systems. "The ultimate goal is keeping the men and women in uniform safe."

With this modification, the contract - originally awarded in July 2007 from the Army's TACOM Life-Cycle Management Command for $7 million is now worth $14 million.

The A-Kits will be produced at BAE Systems' York, Pennsylvania facility with installation being performed at Ft. Bliss, Texas and Ft. Stewart, Georgia. Work on the contract is expected to begin in May 2008 and continue through September 2009.
If you're wondering why I'm doing stuff from BAE it's because my dad works there, and why is there so much bradley stuff? Well BAE acquired Global Defense which manufactured the Bradley so updating the thing is BAEs problem.
And my dad has told me that this thing has been pretty successful with stopping remotely operated IEDs. Should this be portrayed ingame by using a different method for detonating (IE like a radius the player has to be in to detonate simulating a string) or will this particular development of protecting be dropped for gameplay?

Bah, imo we don't need any of this stuff people keep suggesting that would make IEDs harder to use, I never see them being used correctly anyways. I'm not sure why they made C4 have the long timer and IEDs not, it should be the opposite.

If I had to guess it's because your supposed to be at a minimum safe distance from the C4 to set it off in the military, and as an insurgent you have no such rules...heck I mean they do strap the stuff to themselves and go boom.

I think you are trying to make it a tad bit too much delta, its really a good system that is in now.
