Making Project Reality a game
Would it be possible to ask EA games or someother game making compony to make Project Reality an actual game or have EA workers to help the devs creat a game because, PR does have alot of hardcoded realistic stuff.I don't know I would love to have PR become an actual game with a bunch more realistic things.

Re: Making Project Reality a game
Nope. Would require us to own the engine, which would costs millions and millions of dollars in all reality. And its doubtful that the PR Team would ever work with EA, as frankly they tend to consume the companies they buy out (Dice, Westwood) and rush em into oblivion.

Re: Making Project Reality a game
Noone here could pay enough money to make this happen. This is still BF2, based on the engine by EA and Dice. They wouldnt let anyone else sell their content. And if the Dev's agree to let Dice and EA get all the money, only we would suffer. Because EA would want many people to buy PR then, which would mean that they would force the devs to take out lot of realistic things so more people buy it.
That means you'd either have to pay a quite few millions to EA, or you'd have to agree that they destroy the mod.

That's not particularly true, Spec_Operator. Since the development team of Project Reality is significantly smaller than a full-game dev team, they would probably allow us more control over the product as it consumes less of their resources than a big budget one.

How many millions exactly? If my band ever makes it big or I win the lottery, I might just be up for an investment[R-PUB]Viper5 wrote:Nope. Would require us to own the engine, which would costs millions and millions of dollars in all reality.
EDIT: Oops, TheScot beat me to it. I should've read the whole thread really :S

Hmm... okay, maybe, but I still wouldnt want to have this mod being a commercial game, would make things more complicated i think. I dunno how they would handle the community projects for example or stuff like that. But i'm no expert.[R-DEV]Katarn wrote:That's not particularly true, Spec_Operator. Huh? Why not PR-Dev ? All they need is money and I'm quite certain they got the skill to make a full game of their own and to hire people they need for skills they lack.BillyBob5134 wrote:Would it be possible to ask EA games or someother game making compony to make Project Reality an actual game or have EA workers to help the devs creat a game because, PR does have alot of hardcoded realistic stuff.I don't know I would love to have PR become an actual game with a bunch more realistic things.
If I would be rich, I'll hire them to create a Project Reality video game but I'm not. They'll have to find another way

Re: Making Project Reality a game
EA is all about two things, and two things only:
1. Mass quantity
2. Retaining total control
Pr is such a small, niche community that it isn't in their interest to help. Even if they did help, and even if it became a feature title, and even if it was successful/profitable, EA STILL wouldn't consider it because they can make an even LARGER profit elsewhere with less effort.
And even if all of that happened, EA would never give creative control to PR devs. Just look what they did to BF1942.. bought the title, added a few more features, but totally screwed balanced gameplay, rushed production, and delivered before it was ready. BF2 was beta for BF2142 which is beta for their next bug ridden game. But it didn't matter, millions of kiddies bought BF2 it and are still playing to this day and that's why they don't care about quality. Quantity pays more.

how did EA start...they had to start some where...but ya it would be very unlikley that pr becomes its own company (or is it balck sands studios)
but IF it did become a game..im sure it would sell like crazy...

Re: Making Project Reality a game
PR would be destroyed and be turned into a mainstream **** shooter for the masses. enjoy the 'mod' stage it's at while it still is. it's better than any commercial game will ever be.
red orchestra, dod, cs , and other mods turned retail games gone crappy..........dod:S *dies*

Now say that backwards....makes no sense huh?
well it doesn't make any more sense saying it in order, why would PR make its own game? that would cost ALOT of money, ALOT more time(just to make the engine, not everything else ingame) and then ofcousre they would have to charge to keep in their houses(now cardboard boxes) and nobody likes going from:
0.8 BF2 Mod*FREE*
to (3 years later)
Project Reality 0.9 $150(so they can keep their houses and feed their families)
NO.

Don't you dare even mentioning their name!

EA/DICE will NEVER give up the BF2 engine, like most companies. They made the engine and would only sell it for over $150 Million. So unless someone has a extra million laying around, the PR mod will not turn into a game in its self.
NO.
