Some guy is wrong. The G3 does significantly more Damage than say, an M16. Let me grab you the damage table that nedlands made..

EDIT: Here ya go, http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key= ... _Xl9WyW6VA

As you can see. The damage of each weapon is based on what type of ammunition it uses.

G3 (7.62x51mm) = 50 Damage
M16 (5.56x45mm) = 36 Damage
Conman51=US= wrote:and is it the same story for teh AK and SKS??
The AK47 and the SKS both shoot the exact same round (7.62x39mm) = 42 Damage

Yep. Just look at the spreadsheet, they both shoot 5.56x54mm.

Is my spreadsheet too hard to read? I put a lot of information that people don't really need in it...

EDIT: A lot of the carbines fire a CQB variant of the round which basically simulates the slower muzzle velocity of the weapon.

Isn't that list flawed???
Because an M16 has a larger barrel than a M4 and a L85a2 has an even longer barrel, L86's is even longer.
longer barrel=more damage and higher accuracy in "reality".

The G3 feels like it does monster damage compared to others when I use it, you just have to hit them first and they're dead very soon after. Pretty sure it was made more powerfull in the last version change, I would compare it to a sniper gun now.

Do all the guns have similar armour piercing capabilities. I would expect the mp5 to obviously not go through a fence, Im not sure about if the others vary or if its a simple yes or no thing.

Even pistol headshot is always lethal now? Would that be included in armoured figures sometimes or does the poor/good armour figure only ever apply to the body
Can USMC be hit on the body with G3 and it records a 85 damage (ie. kevlar gap or something), I swear they start bleeding when hit very often

SKS is the crapest gun for me, skorpion is pretty bad also. Its hard to fire them unscoped which is what gets the kills most of the time

Code: Select all

Limb	Body	Head	Poor Armour	Good Armour
Skorpion 15.4	23.8	210	15.4 14
SKS/AK 46.2	71.4	630	63 42
G3 55	85	750	75 50
SAW/M16/AK101 39.6	61.2	540	46.8 36
# of Shots to Wound
Does that mean bleeding, prelude to black screen effect

The list is derived from the in-game values. Your criticisms are wrongly placed.

Sabre: A headshot with a pistol is lethal on the proviso that the target isn't too far away. It is my understanding that the body armour material only applies to the torso area.

If you look in one column of the spreadsheet you will see a # of Shots to Wound section (opps I saw that you noticed). It implies that one shot, with the round fired from a G3A3, to an armoured torso, will cause wounding (ie bleeding).

The rounds have a damage drop off based on range. I shall illustrate this with an example. Here is the bit of code which governs the damage of the 5.56x45mm rounds that the full sized rifles use.

Code: Select all

ObjectTemplate.damage 36
ObjectTemplate.minDamage 0.4
ObjectTemplate.DistToStartLoseDamage 200
ObjectTemplate.DistToMinDamage 1000
The first line is the base damage from which the rest of the damage calculations are based upon. The second line is the multiplier for the damage at the distance which minimum damage is done and beyond. In this case the damage would be 14.4 at 1000m+. The third line is the distance the damage starts to drop off. The final line is the distance where the damage reaches the minimum value. I am under the impression that the damage drops of linearly from the "DistToStartLoseDamage" range to the "ObjectTemplate.DistToMinDamage".

That figures, the G3 does travel further then the m16 in game I think. Ive one shot killed someone in EJOD west sand dunes while standing in the city, must have been over 300m I reckon

I was here for .1 very briefly then I started playing regularly from .5 onwards

It had more recoil in .7 but I think the damage was the same, now its got a bit less recoil and more damage afaik so its more powerfull then ever if you can land a hit

If you compared all the stats for M14 and the G3 I bet they are pretty similar but using the M14 up close is not easy, it can be done though. I'd rate either over a sks in every situation, I dont know why but the sks just seems weak

o_O Why wouldnt 9mm go through those thin fences? I could understand them not going through destructible walls, but those metal fences? I doubt they could stop FMJ 9mm's.

Yea but Im not even sure if apc rounds or the coaxial go through those fences. 50 cal does and ak does but mp5 doesnt afaik even if you reckon it should because the original settings reflected it having less energy I guess

The train depot on fools road is another material like that, you can fire right through the buildings, not sure if its just 1 layer or if 2 stops it. Again, not sure which guns will do it exactly or to what extent damage is reduced if at all

Code: Select all

Model Barrel length (mm) Muzzle velocity (m/s)
L85A1 518 940
L86A1 LSW 646 970
M16A1 508 945
M4A1 368 884
MP5A3 225 400

I was sure the pistol rounds went through... or maybe that was the kashan bunkers only... Now i'm confused, gotta try it again

Edit: Did i say bunkers? I need more sleep... I meant the hangars

Edit 2: Yay, i'm not crazy. At least those metal fences in basrah can be shot through with 9mm.

My dad was in the army for a long time and when you'd be a bit drunk at an officers bash they'd mess about by stopping 9mm Pistol rounds with a wet blanket at about 20-25 metres or so...

What do the numbers in the second column down the bottom mean? (The 3xxx numbers?)
I also see the .5 bullet does less damage to an unarmored person (not that it matters anyway) is this a characteristic of the bullet in reality?
