Marking squadmembers
Is it possible to tweak the squad engine the way that the squadleader can mark members of his team in a different color, to split the squad in 2 fireteams for example. I know it can be done over radio, but sometimes the names are so 133t its hard to adress them all.

haha agreed with the names
It might be easier for the devs to just promote the usage of normal names

Almost if not everything that has something to do with squads is hardcoded.

Also this has been suggested before, if it could happen, would be cool, but AFAIK it cant.

I think it is hard-coded as well.....
But I am in agreement about the names.

last time I checked its hardcoded, there green already. Good enough due to the little amount fireteams are used.

Probably because its difficult to divide and keep track of them though...LtSoucy wrote:last time I checked its hardcoded, there green already. Good enough due to the little amount fireteams are used.

Re: Marking squadmembers
This is a resuggestion...and the last time the same responces were given "Prob. hardcoded"
If typical squad leaders could start using certain techniques collectivly then the whole community would integrate it into their thinking. such as...
Open your capslock window and split the fire team into EG:"squad member 2,3 and 6 are assigned as fireteam" but heres the main thing, the whole purpose of being able to lock a squad it to make a fireteam, you make a squad and invite a couple of buddies and bobs-ur-unklz...you got a fireteam. I find that splitting the squad creates a lot of dissorganised chatter and serves more to confuse the communication more than anything else...its like when you have a tank crew or even more than one tank crew in a squad, you know how dificult and irritating it can be to call out targets in the frey.

Re: Marking squadmembers
It isnt about the squadleader knowing who is in which team, but about telling the squadmembers in which fireteam he is in. Can be done with voice, but if you consider the some squadnames are kind of leet (in the true sense of the word) and that the VoIP quality is not exactly epic, it would be nice to make 3 members black or white so that you can go like team one advance, team two surpress.IAJTHOMAS wrote:Probably because its difficult to divide and keep track of them though...
Too bad such an implementation seems to be quite hard to realize.

Its a damn shame we cant do it, but you can still do it the old fashioned way. Im not saying its impossible because most things that are currently in PR were thought impossible at one point or another, but I think its prety unlikely to happen.
I usually run an infantry squad with this setup:
FIRETEAM ALPHA:
Officer (SL)
Medic
Grenadier
FIRETEAM BRAVO:
Rifleman AT (FTL)
Automatic Rifleman
Rifleman
The trick is assigning your bravo fireteam leader to the player you feel would be best at the role. As long as the guy has voip and is not constantly disobeying your orders its usually fine.

Re: Marking squadmembers
call 'em out by number then. "Odd" numbers go left, "Even" go right. Or "2 & 3" left, "4 &5" right, "6" with me. Be sure your squad knows what number they are (by looking at squad screen) and that is how SL plans to address. I just thought of the above and haven't tried it yet, but I will as I already know how difficult it is to remember names. It's not like I've been training wiht these guys for months before battle...
this just in... ***new idea***
Now if we could get the "numbers" to show up on-screen next to player name (similar to how SL shows up but for squad members - maybe use Roman numerals or alphabet) That would add some help. Sometimes it's hard to read name. See attached screen shot (yes it looks worse than ingame, but my point is how difficult it can be to tell who is who and if they are doing what you ask). SL is in center and guys are to left and right. Even in high res, it is sometimes hard to read names against backgrounds (or if they are 40 characters long). Note how easy it is to see which one the SL is. If SL had this same visiblity to his SM, it could add some benefit. Maybe the whole team. You can't always correlate who you are with if you have to jump back and forth between squad screen and name of guy near you.
btw - I suck with names... numbers come easier for me... so all of the above could just be a personal problem...

Re: Marking squadmembers
Thats a really good idea. There should be a sticker in tactics or something that covers the keypad system, assigning numbers to squadmembers and things like calling out for air support that gets updated by a moderator as usefull stuff adds up. In tips the tip to read it with the adress could be given out.frrankosuave wrote:call 'em out by number then. "Odd" numbers go left, "Even" go right. Or "2 & 3" left, "4 &5" right, "6" with me.
