Nice with many players, but...

Post by Schiller »

In order to keep things organized with the new flow of players all servers have to implement harder rules. Because more players aren't really that good if the spirit of PRMM is spoiled.

This is after all a reality mod and that's why we are attracted to it so why not raise the realism-bar some steps up?

Example of a server that has nice settings is Drygar's FpsFocus server. In that server you can't use shockpaddles for instance.

I think that the most important parts of server-side settings (not ingame, I have a few suggestions there too ;)

- Increase spawntime, I know that it sounds boring to wait for more than half a minute to play again BUT when you are alive and play the experience will be more realistic. My suggestion is 1 minute, you don't wanna get shot when you have to wait for 1 minute right?

- Make shockpaddles go away, when a fellow soldier get's shot between the eye's his help ain't gonna be electricity. Only prayers will save him :?

- All servers must use AAS because it's a fantastic way to play this mod

- All players must join squads and VOIP must be enabled.

These suggestions have two effects

It makes the experience for the realism-nuts incredible good with nice teamwork and communication. It also sorts out the rats that come to PRMM for a c4:ish noob-tube extravaganza.

Correction, it's the ONLY way to play this mod of and other BF:2 mod.

Join squads yes. VOIP disagree. Language barrier can make voice com more of a pain than it's worth. If you make me join a squad and the only one open is a bunch of Polish guys who are speaking Polish. I speak English, French and German. All I would do is piss those guys off. VOIP should always be optional. PRMM is a global game, not exclusivley reserved to one region or one language. Otherwise why have Chinese and Arabic in the voice commands.

To be honest, the mod as is works fine. On certain maps. 16 Steel Thunder is the daddy, simply because the amount of teamwork required makes everyone work that much harder.

On the spawn time front, its not that people are careless to get shot, its just hard to not get shot. I mean, if a tank were to roll up and your sat there with an M16 in cover, your boned. Its not that youve been careless, its just the odds are against you. Increasing the spawn time will only do so much. Any mor than it is at the moment, and it will just become annoying.

America was a tad late into the First World War. They redeemed themself's and came in slightly sooner in the Second. Now they seem determined to start the Third.

The people that don't talk english is clearly in minority in my opinion (wonder how they figured out how to download PRMM and such).

In my world all kind of settings that are raised or lowered has an effect. Take taxes for example, if you hade a certificate that allowed you to only 1 percent incometax you would like to work much more than your colleauge that had to pay 40 % in tax. The same rule of thumb applies in this case. I played on a new swedish server yesterday and it was a kill extravaganza because, just as in bf2, no one cared about getting shot.

Beleive me, if you were in a real battle you wouldn't act the same way as you act with 30 seconds spawntime.

In my military service we sometimes had a digital feedback of the battles, gps systems, laser bullets with prismas on all soldier and so on on a big screen, virtually a real war with real weapons except the bullets beeing fake. One tank squad was shot out and the Captain didn't think that they hade made their cover preprerations properly so he asked "If you were electrified with 10 000 volts for every hit on the tank, would you have made the same decisions?" You can figure out the answer...

I have found that with the recent release of 0.25, there has been a spate of poor sportsman players on Gloryhoundz. Has anyone else found this?
