Overreacting Players

Post by SuperTimo »

why is it that so amny people get so easily offended in PR?

today i said to someone that was in the AA on kashan: "don't fire the AA it can hit friendlys!" as i was assumeing he was firing at nothing as people do.

Insantly he says, "i was firing at the mig, you useless lump of carbon"

why what was that in aid of?

i got in an argument with him which wasnt too polite, and now im banned from my clan's server because I tked him too show what i thought (not a wise move yes and quite stupid, but id spent all round trying to command a failing mec team that wouldnt follow orders and then getting insta killed as i got in a chopper so i wasnt int he best mood)

i have seen this on more than one occasion where players have flown off the handle for no reason. All he had to say is i was targeting a mig and it would be sorted but no instead for possibly not making him look so 1337 im a "useless lump of carbon" :(

well i think im finished with PR until 0.8 comes out

it takes the Pi** though earlier in the same round someone said to me "dont fly the mig if you cant" which is pretty much the same sort of thing i said to the other player, smiply makig sure that there is less noobiness around.

Did i go nuts and get mad? no i said "ive been flying since the start of 0.6 :) " and he said "okay no worries just the lat bloke who ahd the mig crashed it" r somthing like that.

some people thing your personally insulting their 1337ness or somthing if you say anything that might be slightly agaisnt them.

A TK like that is almost like throwing a man off a four-story balcony for giving your wife a foot massage.

Self-defeating thread, anyone?

Other than that, I agree with the OP in that lots of people tend to overreact in PR...

possibly yes i did overract too but it wasnt simply becuase i was told not to fire aa missiles, but i wasn't think properly and i was quite pissed off, all i wanted was a nice round of kashan in a jet, which failed as i got taken down instantly by Alex, so i tired to command the failing mec team and turn it around, which was lame and stressfull. then i teamswitched to go with my clanmates then got killed almost inasntly in a little bird, then again ina blackhawk, then i say about the AA and this Knob insults me for trying to makesure that friendly assets arnt destroyed. then he argues with me and twists my words saying that i said, "dont fire AA missiles you idiot!!"

it was one of the least things i could have done team- killing him. im not angry for being banned it was wrong for me to tk him im just annoyed at how often i see this sort of thing

also that tk was about 5mins before the end of the round and he was doing nothign expect waitng for a jet than had another 15mins left to spawn.

Strangers insulting each other has been part of internet gaming since it was born....and actually, calling you a useless lump of carbon is quite restrained in the grand scheme of things...

You definitely over-reacted...

Timo mate... he didn't cause you to act like that. Whether or not you're comfortable with the fact, you chose to TK him on your own clan's server. Might not have been a concious decision, but if it wasn't then that suggests that subconciously you're okay with the idea of using a TK to demonstrate your displeasure.

It's pretty hard to make anyone do anything they don't want to do. Trust me on this, my profession is pretty much the persuit of behaviour and/or belief modification :p

Timo, you where on our TS the other day baaawing that we disliked Quinling because we get "raped", before I could finish my sentence saying we hate it because of the frame rate drop even on my fairly ok pc. I'm pretty sure you're one of the over reactive players.

Even though summer is usually the time where lots of younger players come about, I've only experienced a few younger players that took things the wrong way.

I kindly ask someone to close the hatch on the back of the Merlin so we don't die, they do it without complaint. :) We all have a bad day. Keep playing.
