Idea: IR strobes for chopper
Recently I was playing Kashan 32, gunning in the Cobra. I look down over the bunkers and I see a group of infantry. I let loose with my 30mm, and I hear "Cease Fire, Soldier" and my name appear twice in the top left next to that ugly "[Teamkilled]" message.
So, my suggestion is this: put IR strobes on friendly infantry units, just like they do in real life (just like in CoD4, in that gunship mission). No one will be able to see the strobes except for the gunner (or maybe the driver of a tank in the black and white view, with the range finder).
I looked at the massive "already suggested" thread and didn't find this, so I apologize if it has already been suggested and shot down.

Really good idea howerver to slighty improve on it what about a throwable strobe to mark targerts for Helis Because its annoying when a lb is goin to strafe a target comes in on a order and sprays down a friendly squad.

Why not make it something like a grenade instead, you can use it to mark your own or an enemies position.

Its easy, you the the blue tag over their heads this only works when youre in chopppers.
First fix, but ir strobes would be cooler.

If you double checked your map and STILL cant decide who's who, then simply dont engage.

Re: Idea: IR strobes for chopper
how about give them the non lock looking thing you have on the friendlie jets for example.
and you could trow them on youre position, and they know not to engage that position.

Can't you see boxes from the SOFLAM? so you can even mark infantry targets (and shoot the boxes...)
Also SL order markers work wonders.

Well.. there many way to find out if its friend or foe... but since the Attack helicopter is intended to take out Armored vehicule ( wich are very easy to identify...) if you cant know if its friendly you got 3 choices, ask in team chat if there any friend near you.. pass to an Armored treath or simply shoot whit 50% chance of getting TK's... lol!

We already have that, SOFLAMs (G.L.T.D. or whatever we're calling it nowadays).Tirak wrote:Why not make it something like a grenade instead, you can use it to mark your own or an enemies position.

Re: Idea: IR strobes for chopper
Yes. I don't think that in real life an attack chopper would engage a group of people without confirming it first, which would take time. The time taken for you to check your map would account for this.Ragni<RangersPL> wrote:Check your map for blue dots more often![]()

Re: Idea: IR strobes for chopper
agreed. Ive never teamkilled or my gunner has never teamkilled in my history of PR. How? well its quite easy to see the difference in enemy camo. Secondly you should be chcking that mini map very often.

Re: Idea: IR strobes for chopper
Its not necessary at all i fly/gun in attack helos all the time and i still haven't managed to teamkill. Its easy to spot the difference between troops and there are much more pressing issues that need fixing.
Edit: i really should read the post above mine before posting

Re: Idea: IR strobes for chopper
Nah no need, check minimap as you always should. If not certain if it is enemies or friendlies dont engage. And the most important thing to remember, just because you are in the most powerfull vehicle on the battlefield doesn't mean you should shoot every enemy, sometimes it is wiser to just leave them.
