FAVs, where have they gone?

Very self explanetory guys, why have the FAVs for some of the factions (except the PLA for some reason) been removed from the game? They could be especialy useful on a map like Kushan, giving infantry a vehicle that can really press forward and take postions up for grabs. I remember there as a FAV for the americans in Sunset City, but that was way back in .6.

Should FAVs for the other factions return or should they be kept in the cupboard until further notice?

I'd like to see them come back also. But I've heard the US doesnt use the DPV anymore. But Ive also heard that their only used by special forces. Im not sure which is correct.

Dunno about the Chinese, but since MEC don't exist, it's likely they don't have one for balance :)

Here's an interesting insight into the thinking behind Military Procurement procedures;
Wikipedia wrote:The original tests used commercial dune buggies modified to carry weapons such as TOW missiles and recoilless rifles. The recoilless rifles still had enough recoil that they were abandoned (they tended to flip the light dune buggies). The TOW missiles had much greater success, but they violated existing Army TOW doctrine. The Army had determined that a TOW needed a 3 man team to operate it. The FAVs could only carry a two man crew and they seemed perfectly capable of operating the TOW, but this would have meant revisiting Army doctrine and possibly changing TOW deployment throughout the Army. Fort Benning decided to offer a "superior" FAV design that allowed a third crewman. This design was rejected by the HTLD team and was never produced.
So...despite working perfectly well, it proved that the brass were wrong in saying you need 3 operators for a TOW, so they rejected it. The usual story of the brass putting their asses ahead of the grunts'.

I think now that we have so much realism it would be pointless to have these fast attack vecials especially the DPV because you would most likely get ripped to shreads from an enemy LMG or blown to hell by RPGS and other weapons that bould cut through light/no amoured vecials.
Plus only 3 seats no squad work will go with them players will be like well I cant drive the truck the tank the apc by myself so ill just grab the small littel car that is fast and is no use to a squad and would die almost instantly.

Then Land Rover sucks, too?

I like Landies, they're fast, offer more firepower than the Humvee and allows your squad to operate a little bit more dispersed as fireteams. My 2c

That is, if you can find two of them. otherwise you've got half the squad mobile and the other half is stuck on foot

you might lock them for every kit exept special forces?
makes great for recon and fast attacks,while still keeping it realistic cuz im pretty sure SF still uses them

We had some funny stuff with dpv on kashan in beta where you could do drive by c4 on the tanks. Because its so small and agile it would be hard to stop, a bit like the insurgent motorbikes I guess

My favourite thing is carmegedon with dpv on jalalabad but its not really pr

Then you end up with 31 non-SF players hanging around a base with no vehicles but FAVs while the SF guy tanks it around the map in a Hummer cos it's less vulnerable :D

But I knew that would happen lol. The dev's seem to despise special forces :P
