I believe this was suggested before but I did not see it in the "already suggested" thread.
It would be nice if a tank commander could go "hatches down". Especially when the vehicle comes under heavy attack.

The term is "Button Up" and yes, it has been suggested, use the Search function in conjunction with the Already Suggested Suggestions List.

Yes....the F3 slot would be cool if this was possible.culliganator wrote:I believe this was suggested before but I did not see it in the "already suggested" thread.

You can duck inside with "ctrl" But if you could pull the hatch down and still have a view thru a "slit" window would be sweet!
Maybe too much.....but if this is possible.....I would also make it so frags could fall into the hatch....wounding and or killing the crew.

yeah give the enemies a chance to take out tanks the old fasioned way, shoot the tank commander and plop a grenade inside. heheh i would love to do that some day, i always get into the perfect position to jump ontop of tanks but you know.
if this was put in i'd hop on top of tanks and do it commando style! grab the tank commander's head, slam it onto the deck, roll a grenade down the back of his shirt and shove him back down the hatch.

I imagined the red beret-wearing Brit commander having his head smashed against the Challenger 2 and some maniac chucking a nade in there.Bringerof_D wrote:if this was put in i'd hop on top of tanks and do it commando style! grab the tank commander's head, slam it onto the deck, roll a grenade down the back of his shirt and shove him back down the hatch.
Wasn't that in Metal Gear Solid?
On-topic: What purpose would this serve? I'm ignorant in how armour operates in real life, so it's a valid question, not shooting down the suggestion.

The 50 gunner on tanks are so vurneable that I really get the point of having a spot there. If you are an engie you always have to hold down ctrl so yes with soemthing to look out of and not be the first to die this could be something.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Re: Hatches Down in Tank Commander Position
Even when you duck you are still vulnerbale to explosions. It sucks when you are crew commanding in a tank and are the only one who gets killed during tank fire or bombing runs. If you could "button up" then your survival chances would be essentially the same as the gunner and driver. Even an additional passenger position could potentially fulfill this role. You could cycle between the seats. You might argue that it could be abused as a means of turning the tank into a transport but I don't think it would be a problem because most tanks are driving around with an empty crew commander cupola as it is and it is. Even if folks were using the tank as transport you could still argue athat there is a precident for that. Tanks would often ferry troops around albeit they usually sat on the outside.

I know it was previously suggested but my point was that the suggestion was excluded from the sticky "Already suggested suggestions".Tirak wrote:The term is "Button Up" and yes, it has been suggested, use the Search function in conjunction with the Already Suggested Suggestions List.
