USM Military Tactics
Hey all this is CPT Spyder, the United States Military Commander (USM). Now not all members in USM are military. There are about 3 active military members and we are always looking for more. The member that has been in the army and taught me everything that I know is LTC Hspd. Currently leader of the 75RR in USM. (Yes in the Army LTC is higher than CPT but i lead ST3 with used navy ranks).
Now I have seen many complaints about no teamwork. I love the reality mod i actually D/L AA until it came out. USM want to help to keep reality mod going. We would like to set up a mass training date for all who wish to attend.
There are a few ways to do this. We could have someone (Like gloryhoundz) allow use to train in their server. Or we could use USMs normal BF2 server for training.
Requirements:
Have to be in teamspeak with USM (70.86.234.202:8767)
Listen to all USM Drill Insturctors
Tactics Taught:
Ranger File
Wedge Formation
Room Clearing
360 Perimeters
Coordinated Assaults with multiple units
3-5 Second rush
Line manuvers
And a hell of alot more
Sign up here if you would like to participate. Go to http://www.usmsquad.com and post if you want to more information. My AIM is Grandtheft41.
*Note to PRMM Moders, if you could help me make a training map it would go much better than using regular maps***
***Another note, any server host with a 40+ man PRMM v.25 server that has good pings and wouldn't mind posting please post here as well***

For the military guys, you think it would be good advice to show real infantry tactics, or do you think that would violate opsec? I'm no longer in, but I still don't want to risk lives potentially. Feedback?
I'm sure it's generally known throughout the world, but still, I have this nagging feeling about sharing real world tactics. The basic battle drills. Reacting to contact, break contact, breach a mined/wired obstacle, etc. What are your feelings?

Well the tactics are pretty in depth but not super in depth. Hspd is X Army so I guess it doesn't really matter. Yeah I have use these tactics with my friends in paintball and yeah we could use them in real life but one im a patriotic american and I don't think there are any terrorists that play games like this. If there are tell us we won't call the CIA
. Although im not in the military and as I am sure you know it's one thing to know the tactics, its another to use them in real life and terrorists are stupid.

Man you'd be surprised at how adept they are at setting up ambushes. I've been through 4 near ambushes. All of them combined hundreds of men, hundreds of RPG's, at least 1 dozen or more large IED's (155's), and a few car bombs. Either sitting by the road, or piloted by a crazy.USM-ST3.Spyder wrote:Well the tactics are pretty in depth but not super in depth. Hspd is X Army so I guess it doesn't really matter. I'm gonna leave out instructions on how to ambush (cause I don't think it'll be useful here anyways), but i'll cover basic tactics.

My squad will be up for it, and can offer a UK based (London) 32 player server, but with no AAS support for the moment
Anywho, the level of teamwork in our squad has gone down dramaticaly after switching to VBF2, and this would be ideal, and a great way to enjoy this fantastic mod even more.

That works fine and all, but it would be pretty hard to do in an evironment like BF2 and you also don't have that many people in a squad. If you on't mind, I would like to help out a little because I am pretty good with tactics, know BF2, and used to be in a Swat 3/4 clan which we learned some actually realistic tactics which I could change for the battlefield. I still have my SOP for it also.

6. Anti-Tank (If heavy Armor)
This has been the best squad set up in the game I have found and always try to put it together this way.
Support puts down suppressing fire/cover fire
Assault has good accuracy downrange, the grenade launcher for grouped enemies, smoke for moving up or down.
AT for when there is armor and he should be at the rear just to cover the squad.
If there isn't armor, substitute a Spec Ops which is good for blowing bridges, traps, or staying to the side of teh squad and flanking the enemy from teh far side if he stays hidden. Then the squad makeup would change somewhat.
And of course, 2 medics are the rear for medicing the team and commander. One medic should be designated for the squad leader which stops both from leaving their sectors.
Squad leader is in middle and is assault so he has armor, smoke grenades for support, good gun for protection or assualting, and grenade launcher for support.
These squads have the most survivablity and usefulness/effectiveness I have found in the game.
But I like how you had teh rushes and stuff.
If you need a good level for training, I would suggest Steel Thunder since you have the wooded area for good squad formation with low grass and tall trees and then the urban environment with buildings for entry.

Mine were real world tactics. That's a basic tool so you know how to cope with different situations. You always have to consider METT-T (METTT-C but there are no civilians). And we could always modify it to allow for squad size and members. It's a tool to show how to flank an enemy, not meant for this game.00SoldierofFortune00 wrote:That works fine and all, but it would be pretty hard to do in an evironment like BF2 and you also don't have that many people in a squad.
