[Project] BMP-1
Ok well very soon (within the next week or two) i hope to start modelling the BMP-1. I just wanted to get peoples opinions on which references to use. There are two lots of reference pics but they are both different. Plese post saying weather to modle the first or second one.
Personally i believe the first becasue its got left, right, back and top, but its got a missile instead of a TOW launcher. I am confused as to which type of weapon was mounted on the "traditional" BMP-1's.
I think what I will do is model the first one but just disclude the roket and if someone wants the rocket or tow they can do it.
reference pics one - BMP-1
Reference pics two - BMP
also the first reference pics dont have the front view so could someone tell me could anyone draw the front for me?
thats all fellas thnx and plz comment

Re: [Project] BMP-1
Finally someone starts this, I've been wanting a BMP-1 in PR for a while now, I would've done it myself but I dont' have any programs to model with. I'm pretty sure the one with the missile on it(First Reference Prics) came first, the AT-3 Sagger Anti Tank Guided Missile, and I confirm it with this webiste BMP-1 Fighting Vehicle. Good luck and I'd love to see early WIPs! This website has an ok front end. http://www.the-blueprints.com/index.php ... bmp_1_ifv/

Re: [Project] BMP-1
The "traditional" BMP-1 is the first link, the 2nd one is the BMP-2.
The BMP-1 carries a 73mm rocket-cannon thingamy, where as the BMP-2 has a 30mm autocannon

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Why is all of a sudden everyone starting threads on models before they have even started making them?

Re: [Project] BMP-1
BMP-2 would be more useful, could replace the BTR90

Re: [Project] BMP-1
yeah BTR 90 is only used by the russians so we nearly need a replacement, apartf rom the BMP-3 of course.

Re: [Project] BMP-1
yeh i was thinking on doing this BMP-1 for jonny and the other mod that was asking for it, so if i did no. 1 with the rocket could i just not model the rocket or would it be better if i did model it. cause with the modeling of it i dont think i could do it or it would be ****. maybe if someone else wanted it attachted they could do it.
and outlawz i wanted feedback before is started to know that something that i am going to spend a fare while modeling isnt going to be chucked

Re: [Project] BMP-1
If someone models/skins/imports a quality BMP-2 and/or BTR-80, I will be a very happy person. (Would be perfect for MEC as well as Russia.)

Because they've learnt they waste alot less time if they know EXACTLY what their doing before they start?Outlawz wrote:Why is all of a sudden everyone starting threads on models before they have even started making them?
Would be nice to the the BMP-1, I can imagine they will all get done at some point. Starting to get a good variety of different APC/IFV/4x4s with big guns, and combat between them, with their mix of firepower, armour, and manoeuvrability, should be very interesting. Gonna see alot of weird tactics evolving to deal with them I imagine.
