US sniper...

Post by RikiRude »

i CANNOT figure this weapon out. it has this amazing zoom... but i cant see where my bullets hit (possibly because my vid settings are on low?) so i cant figure out the bullet drop, or how to re-adjust my next shot, how many meters = one click down or half click? any advice and thoughts are welcomed =)

*PS i searched the threads, and everything was in regards to before .2 i believe?*

Yes, m24 is weird... i'm shooting guy from about 80m... 4 shots and nothing....all missed.... enemy is proneing and doesn't move...
After that... 200m... guy is running, one shot and guy dies, precise bullet in place where i was aiming.....
I found that shooting on long range is better than on close range...no idea why...
If u have SVD range doesn't bother u, it is accurate.

Yeah i have the same problem with the m24.. its the only sniper rifle that i have realy hard to hit with after that the chines comes and the Mec one are the best of all 3

its a pain because you cant re-adjust im having guys take me out with reg rifles when i have m-24 because none of my shots are connecting. it sucks because i got soooo used to the vanilla m-24 (K :d ratios of 3:1 usually) i could hit ANYTHING... now im a poop sniper =(

i find it only accurate within 20 meters out side of that you cant hit any thing.

heck, I usually have to wait like a full second or 2 with the scope/mouse absolutely still to have any chance of hitting the guy, and half the time, it still doesnt - I mean, cmon, bolt actions are supposed to pretty much always be more accurate than semi-automatics (unless you wanna compare something like a PSG1 or SR25 to an old Mauser K9 8)

Yesterday i made 15 kills in arow from SVD...
Yay! I took m24 and made 9 kills in arow in about 3mins... i was thinking: cool!. After that i;ve been shooting guy from 80m... 6 shots and nothing... i have tried guy next to him, about 100m... 1 shot and got him down..
WTH?
It is accurate or not?

I think that the whole sniper role is being revamped. I can't speak for the devs but I hear it's going to be changed, keep your eyes open.

Maybe it was changed to be lame at ranges <50m so it wouldn't be a railgun?

i tried the last 2 days the first time any sniper rifle and have different expiriences. in close combat i can hit almost nothing as well in long range, but it is more easy to aim for me between 50-100m. donno but it seems on most maps u dont have even more than 200m visibility.

i have really no clue how to aim correctly with most of the sniper weaopons, but the m-24 is the worst for me of all. i guess even, that it could be too easy to kill someone with those sniper rifles, if you know how to aim since there is not any movement (swingind ? spell?) of the scope, i would love to see that instead of that steady and not moving gun sight.

Someone mentioned you've really gotta stay still and place your crosshairs on the target for a while. I find its accurate but hardly anything in the way of damage. I was shooting one of those explosive barrels, and could see the rounds hitting, yet it took 4 for it to actually blow up.

Thing is fuel barrels don't just blow up under light to moderate fire - tracer rounds help and a shed load of ammo maybe.

what i'm reading here, bullets missing, could easily be blamed on lag.

Was this added in release .25 (I already removed prmm2)to the M24?
setTurnDev 4 2 2 0.5
Basically the numbers = after moving it takes .267 seconds to regain best accuracy.
The SVD has a smaller max inaccuracy of 3 instead of 4 (first number). So accuracy returns to normal in .2 sec.

Also having trouble figuring out the m24...

Once in awhile I will get 'in the zone' and find it fairly easy to get a good 10-20/1-2 k/d ratio.

But that is only after expending 3 mags worth of ammo trying to FIND the zone.

Sometimes it seems almost as if the rounds are passing clear through guys doing no damage, as I have watched the puff on the wall directly behind the guy, and he continues on his marry way.

And also 100% to the fact that you cannot SEE the hit-puff past 200m really irks me. Almost impossible to judge if you are doing any damage over range, unless you pump 4-5 rounds into someone and he eventually falls.

Do you see hit puffs or anything?

The only time I am unsure if I get any hit at all, be it person or object/ground is when the range is over what 200m? Then the engine stops showing me :(

Ok, I think it's time I step in here and make my mistake known :o ops:

This one is my fault guys. The M24 is not as accurate as the MEC and CH sniper rifles. I failed to completely check the files for these when we updated them.

This has been corrected and you find a better M24 in our next release.

Sorry USMC snipers!
