Intel and cache locations

Post by Rudd »

from the guide, which is still woefully out of date

Revealing the first marker takes 30 intel points, and each subsequent taking 3 more points than the last (with second taking 33, third taking 36, etc.).
The intel gained during the round for locations can often be quite useless because. The large radius for the cache location in built up areas means that the cache are very hard to find, effectively making the intel location the "you wil die here because insurgents be waiting in ambush here with RPGs that practically have unlimted ammo"

To make the intel gained for the Brits/US more useful I would propose that gaining intel points fine tunes the intel location, i.e. the cache markers would move so that the radius the cache could be in is slowing decreased to a minimal level, e.g. 35m (the size of a building)

The idea being to stop a stalemate and keep the game moving

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Question: hypothetically lets assume that an entire insurgent team went civilian and lined up outside of brit main to be knifed, so that the brits got more intelligence that they ever need for the map, will caches be revealed straight away after a known cache has been destroyed?
EDIT- apparently the answer is YES

If so, another suggestion is to have a cap on the amount of intel gatherable per cache to try and prevent a sudden chain reaction of brits destroying caches

thanks for reading, I'm here all week :D

Agreed. Altough its realistic to be looking for a cache in a build area the radius is very big!

I like that idea. There have been times when it took forever to find a cache with the large radius, but we managed to get plenty of intel from knifing civis and killing insurgents.

Answer to your question: yes, after one of the three caches is blown, the vast amount of intelligence will immediately mark the new cache on British maps.

Yes, but I think back to BHD (DON@T CRUCIFY ME PLLZZZ!, i'll never mention it again) where they located ONE building to raid before moving in.

Thnx cryax-sektor, I always suspected so but wasn't sure, i'll edit the first post

I like this idea! It could also be made that after three caches are on the brit radar further intelligence gains would fine-tune proximity of one of markers in multiples of 10m. Then once there is no distance left the red diamond could turn green marking the exact location!!

maybe also replacing the marker with a circle? something an officer would draw on his combat map.

LOL come on guys. Just put a attack marker down at the cache site, knowing it will be in that area.

Its not something your should be able to find easily

True, but neither is it something that should take three squads an hour to find, I agree with the suggestion to center the location better with more intel, but how about make the intel system non cumulative. It takes 30 points per cache and you can have all 3 caches found, but once one cache has been destroyed you need to get another 30 points.

Heres another suggestion then, how about the insurgents don't know the british know of the known cache? That way it still takes a while to search, but at least the insurgents cant focus the entire team's energy on the one comprimised caches before the brits even arrive

i agree with that tbh, the brits superioty in weapons "should" be a bit more of an advantage tbh.

Interesting, perhaps the ins team should find out a little after the Brit team learns the location, simulating the insurgents learn of civilian capture etc, maybe a 3-5 minute delay so the Brits have a small window of opportunity to take advantage.

No idea how much work would be needed on maping etc but think that may have potential.

I think its fine the way it is. The insurgents are at a disavantage as soon as the game starts. the only reason the british lose all the time is they never want to play smart and work together.

One good Squadleader can win the game for the british.
