Question for the devs

Post by Cassius »

The AAS gamemode which was by far the most common in 0.75 was meant to concentrate the fight around 2-3 flags at a time. However on many maps each squad went for a flag to cap it once it becomes avaiable.

Now in 0.8 every kit is not avaiable to every squad, so if a squad runs into a marksman it might have a problem. Is that to encourage more cooperation between infantery squads, so that at least 2 squads work toegether instead of having 4 sqauds each go their own way ?

Squads should work together anyway. In my opinion the removal of kits is a good idea, encourages teamwork between squads and support assets.

Before, see an APC? You could just get HAT/LAT or something to that effect and take it out. Now, you may have to actually ask for help from another squad or friendly armour etc... *gasp* ;)

Lol i love the kit restrictions. Now i cant completely rape the enemy team with APCs if i get a decent gunner.

Woohoo!

well, yeah, that is good. But without squad-squad comms its problematic.

armour is the only real problem with the limitations, I suppose maybe not picking up the kit until its actually needed...

Thats what the commanders job is. Or even team chat if no commander. :)

I hate it tbh,way harder to get a support get and in most cases ive seen so far it got wasted in an assault instead of laying down cover fire.
And since the suppresion effect support became my favorite role(the only one i liek to play)
But i think ill get used to it

Smeg: Fuzz commands a lot and promotes good teamwork, db flips vehicles, Bosco is an all-round nub, Outlawz is an SP whore, Nickbond is a friggin ninja and Rhino gets kicked for being a n00b.

well, its nice if you guys have a commander in your internal matches but out there i havent seen a single one since 0.8
also, try convincing another squad to have their at guy running across the half map ... good luck

I always play public games, I have seen a few commanders.

Like I have said, the biggest problem is the huge lack of intersquad communication. It really isn´t that hard to type "firebase in G3" or "enemy squad rooftop F6"...

One question here,

how come US APCs are baseraping on Muttrah City just because "this is the only way to reload APCs on this map" they were saying.. I found it pretty lame, especially when you have dev rhino on the server.

it is in fact the only way to reload on the map at the moment for US APCs, small oversight, testers said in 807 that they could just reload from the command post on the carrier but was kinda a chore to go back, seems that something changed between there and now, maybe the supply radius of the command post was made smaller not sure. Thou I told the other APC on our team after we both spent 5mins swimming in and around the carrier trying to look for a spot to reload (i had just got a fresh one and dumped the ammo crates in the water to test if we could reload them, other one had returned from using up all its ammo) to go to the enemy main to reload off there CP.

really, you guys could have jumped into a AA cannon or spawned inside the fort, grabed a AT and killed him :p

But there are some players who don't pay attention to the chat at all, which is important and should be read by other players often.

Sounds like PR Devs need to put their own chat application inside PR.exe and steal the mic key binding.

Thanks for the explanation Rhino,

so does that mean baseraping on this map via apc is a known issue and tolerated until its fixed ?

You can talks squad to squad, thats what the commander is for, to forward sightings of armor and tell anit armor to get busy. I had a tow team go postal on qwai.
Also you have like 3 hat kits 3 lats kits maybe, if you cant take out 2 apcs with that, your team gets shot to bits by the apc. Take Muttrah, plenty of palces to Ambush an apc you just need to succeed to get the rocket on one and it wont spawn back in the field for 20 mins, and probably wont be back in the field for another 40.
