AH-6

Post by badmojo420 »

The little bird with guns. I can fly it good now, and i'm starting to use it in public games. But on a map like Remiel for example, i'm almost lost as to what my role should be. I've watched people just fly around the city looking for targets, but this seems like a waste since they all run away and hide when they see you coming. Last night i tried escorting the black hawk and then covering a squad assaulting the south-east area of the map. Which worked pretty good. But, when it comes to the dense city in the middle, am i better to just spot the enemies and report back to commander/team? Should i pick a spot and do really fast passes? Should i stay below the buildings? Should i got to their spawns and harass/kill them for intelligence?

Whatever works. When I flew it yesterday, I found covering the transport choppers very useful. For instance I was flying behind a UH60 yesterday, I noticed a technical and a dude running towards it, I immediatly went for it and got the technical right as the 50 cal starting shooting.

I wouldn't bother with the reporting, it's never usually involved in gameplay. I don't think I've heard once a commander or squad communicate about enemy positions. Enemy spotting is usually internal to the squad and because of sound/sight ("AK fire from the north" "contact bearing 300")

Camping their spawns sounds good just watch out for technicals and rpgs, don't hover.

If you're landed at airport for repair/re-arm, I suggest reminding in team chat that an attack chopper is available, sometimes you get people calling for air support but rarely.

I only like to report enemy positions in insurgency mode. I feel this is one thing we could be doing more of. If you spot a large group of insurgents and there is no friendlies in that area, then there's a good chance they're guarding a cache.

The AH-6 is honestly so maneuverable I just go searching for technicals near cache locations and take them out so the BH and MH-6 can land safely. Also, I usually stay until I think I am damaged enough by small arms fire or am out of ammo, picking off guys on rooftops and in the streets.

With the AH-6 I like to find a Transport Squad and stick with it, I go in first, check the area, suppress what I can or pull out if it's bad, cover them while they're on the ground, gives the Transport squad that extra bit of warning that often means the difference between changing landing sights and bitching on Team Chat about checking LZs before requesting evac.

Searching for technicals sounds like suicide. Whenever i'm an insurgent, I usually take out a littlebird a couple seconds after it appears. Of course i'm a good 50cal gunner and sitting still. Maybe one driving around might be an easy target, but if i see a technical firing i run away when in the littlebird.

Well usually the only time I really go Technical hunting is the beginning of the round when they are setting up, some are soloing so they can't get the gun started and such.

Also, I use the fly-low technique whilst also flying in a circle around the target, spraying them when my crosshairs hover over them. This works extremely well for taking out insurgents on rooftops and for taking out technicals. :-D

I find flying the little bird extremely hard in ramiel, im far from a noob as a pilot in PR but seems that i still get shot pretty fast from 50 cals no matter how low/high i fly.

U fly over 50 cal with full speed and your down if the gunner of the car has any kind of skill and as the coppers can be heard everywhere (hearing distance of whole map) there is no way to suprice the gunner.

I guess i just need more practice on that map.

I went 24-1 on Qwai yesterday flying the AH-6, I got shot down at the end of the round by AA because the squads at Chinese main couldn't keep the guys off the AA for me. The round lasted 1 hour 30 minutes.

I also find flying the littlebird on Ramiel extremely diffcult becuase of the 50.cal guns on the technicals. I always seem to have to go extremely low to avoid them, or i tent-peg the sircraft.

Ye the AH-6 is v hard on Ramiel. Even the PR celebrity pilots have a hard time keeping one alive for a whole round....

The best way to use it is with SL putting markers on targets and spraying them from a long way away....

I usually fly at high altitude and spot the technicals and dive vertically, take them out and fly away. Once you cleared the area of technicals shoot infantry for some time. Then i go back hunting technicals again.

That is a good tactic on karbalah and any other map with attack choppers, the guns are just awesome for long range engagements
