It seems in PR that transport vehicles are constantly blowing up, so I think it may be time for a little upgrade on these vehicles. Primarily I'm looking refering to the Humvee type vehicles.
First I think the vehicles should have a rehaul on their hit points. Since when has shooting a door blown up a vehicle? I don't think it should, so if the jeep is taking fire at its doors by typical small arms fire (assuming its armoured), then it should barely be effected.
Now the engine is probably going to be the main thing. I don't know how well armor protects vehicles, but if a few bullets are able to penetrate the engine the vehicle should be disabled (not able to move preferably).
Now with heavier weapons such as Rocket/Missile launchers, Heavy machine guns such as the .50 cal; the interior can be penetrated. This way an RPG to the side of a Humvee should not kill it, but perhaps kill one or two occupants inside.
Also lets demote poor driving and attempts to ram enemy soldiers (or teammates) by disabling the vehicle if they end up running into a wall real hard. If thats now possible simply increase the damage, after all a vehicle doesn't simply drive away from an accident. Finally can we change these vehicles slightly so that all of the occupants are inside and not exposed in the rear of the vehicle.

I have proposed this before, the problem is that it takes a hell of a lot of coding work. you have to remodel, redo solids, repackage, test, etc. takes forever
but the idea is that the vehicle it self cannot take damage, and bullets either stop when they hit it or they pass through and damage the occupants. the only thing in the vehicle that can be hurt is the engine, which is a big invisible box inside the front of the humvee. the humvee should NEVER explode from small weapons fire.
rpgs and explosives are harder to do, as they deal in splash damage, not specific damage. you have to make it so the splash damage goes throug the humvee, but less then it would go through air... its complicated.
also, a vehicle being disable after hitting somethign fast IS possible (at least in 42), but its really hard to code right, and thats in 42. bf2 has a whole new physics engine you'd have to learn every quirk of to get it to work right.
