Less AA on Muttrah
Just played a round where you got locked on every part of the map and they had vodniks everywhere. Not much the US can do.
I think making only 1 spawnable AA site would be nice. They still get handheld AA, vodniks, apcs and AT, which are more than enough.
Letting them spawn 2-3 AA sites is overkill.
Map should be about ground fighting. With so much AA, its hard for squads to even leave the carrier sometimes.

In a broader sense...

Re: Less AA on Muttrah
u can still get around them man
if u practice enough u can just go around and get low pretty quick and just chopper between the buildings .
and plus taking off the AA's would take out the fun in game , having heavy resistance is what i live for in PR

Main points:
Cobra, needs a good crew and spotters. Key to winning the map.
APCs need to be used effectively.
Firebases need to be built.
Basically, the US needs a good team to win.
Remember, if all flags are lost or being lost change objective to hunting and destroying enemy firebases and aa to allow choppers in, then you can get your own firebases. Otherwise you are back to square one. Sometimes other things have to take priority to arrive at the final objective of capping the flags.

ok but them being able to put down 3 AA sites around the docks is overkill.

I certainly wouldn't want the US choppers to have free reign over the Muttrah skies. It's already bad enough when you piss off a single Cobra.
The US team gets APCs, which can cause a lot of havoc by themselves, so if you can't fly in, drive in.

Re: Less AA on Muttrah
this thread addresses a few problems not with the map and the amount of AA, but the way people generally play it. first of all there is alot of AA available, and rightfully so the MEC is a modern conventional military {fictionally of course}, they wouldnt be caught dead without it. so the US should really stop flying right into the heart of the city, thats just asking for it. landing on the outskirts is a better idea as your less likely to get shot down that way, and it gives you a foothold to set up rallys/firebases etc. secondly the APCs and boats like usual are ignored when they could probabaly get you to shore much safer. so really i just think this is the type of map that needs to be played a certain way, fundamentally i dont think theres anything wrong with the map itself though.

Re: Less AA on Muttrah
You know that Littlebirds have been put into the map, so you can fly very low around the city and completely avoid the AA.
I played rounds where the Cobra raped the MEC and had no trouble with AA or Vodniks and could fly at 50m height, then I had rounds where every single helicopter blew up sooner or later flying across the city due an AA missile.
It just depends on how smart the MEC team is, if they don't put down any AA by themselves then they deserve to face being on the receiving end of air attacks and not achieving anything due 30mm rounds landing in their bodies.
If they do, it's merry go round for MEC and US gets frustrated due lack of air assets.

US only has even faint problems if MEC rushes the docks and sets up 1 FB and AA before the first Choppers arrive. Either that, or there's some kind of glitch that allows lock ons just before the canyon run... :\

Seriously, good pilots just laugh at the static aa's and simply avoid them. You should too

I've even seen helis being locked on by the carrier. That might have been baracuda, I can't remember.Truism wrote:US only has even faint problems if MEC rushes the docks and sets up 1 FB and AA before the first Choppers arrive. Re: Less AA on Muttrah
1. You'd have to have a pretty slow *** US team for MEC to rush Docks and manage to set up a firebase with AA there.Truism wrote:US only has even faint problems if MEC rushes the docks and sets up 1 FB and AA before the first Choppers arrive. 2. If an AA missile lost its target, it quickly looks for another one and locks onto that. So if a Huey just got out of range as someone fired an AA at him, the missile will probably go after him and lock onto a Littlebird going into another directions as it flies past, or if it was fired at the direction of the carrier it'll fly to there lock onto an unsuspecting chopper and take him out on deck.

THREE? That's not even possible is it? Anyway, even if docks is made into some kind of impenetrable fortress to air assets, that doesn't stop you from using your APCs to nail the AA and then for you to bring in re-enforcements.unrealalex wrote:ok but them being able to put down 3 AA sites around the docks is overkill.

If it gets really nasty you should find a way round it anyway, perhaps by avoiding the dock and putting a team down behind enemy lines, get a couple of supply crates in, then you have yourself a firebase to mess them up from the back causing plenty of havoc.

If theres AA and .50 cals all over the place, climb to 1000+ and just dive down when your over the city.

Re: Less AA on Muttrah
Alex, it's videos like that that made me shout "lets get the f**k out of here" last time I was MEC on Muttrah when we had a Cobra over our heads and I knew you were on the opposing team.
As soon as I heard a report "cobra down" it was a bigger relief than my morning sh*t.
There's no major issues with Muttrah, like many have said, it's the way it's played.

Yes it is, I saw it myself, someone placed down two KORDs and I said over team chat 'great so how are you gonna defend the firebase against the Cobra now?' and someone said 'theres AA next to it dude' and it was.AnRK wrote:THREE? That's not even possible is it?

Re: Less AA on Muttrah
Alright, here's the game I just played

I could not go anywhere near the docks without being locked on. I decided to go around the fortress, and I was locked on. I flared, missile killed 2 of my passengers. Third attempt (I have not died or crashed the chopper so far) I go north out of bounds and try to land 3 people where it sayss Vodnik...(obviously I had not known there was a vodnik waiting around the corner)
Yes you say, you can get an APC, boats (as if they cant take out boats with 50 cals from the vodnik), get the cobra to take out their AA, etc.
Well this is a PUG. I don't have control of the whole team. On muttrah I like fly transport choppers or gun the cobra. Yes it would be nice if a squad decided to grab the APC and take out their AA/firebase. But come on, how often can you rely on the other team to do the wise thing? Especially when there is no commander? And there usually isnt now.
1 stationary AA + vodniks + handheld AA is more than enough to put a hold on US helis but when you can place 3 stationary AA throughout the map it's just overkill. A smart team would be able to overcome it yes, but in PUGS its average team vs stupid team, not smart organized vs smart organized.
I think making only 1 stationary AA would allow for better gameplay. MEC will still have plenty of AA, they would just have to use it more effiecently. When they can have every corner of the map covered with AA, thats not even realistic because in real life I would fly outside the map boundaries and come in from different directions.
Btw, aren't Little Birds suppose to be protected from heat seaking missiles?
