Vehicle hit detection

Post by Outlawz7 »

This isn't about hitboxes, but about knowing when your vehicle just got shot by something. In the last few days I found out that there is no way to tell, if you got hit and from which side you were shot while in a vehicle.

On Barracuda I was in Huey that started taking fire from two Nanjings on the shore, pilot flew out of bounds and tried to go as fast as possible and in a few seconds the jeeps and tracers were out of sight and everyone thought we were safe, when the critical damage alarm went off and we crashed into the ocean in mid air, .50 cal fire of course but no one had a clue that we were being fired at!

Same thing on Kashan, 3 M1A2s in the tank squad, one of them gets hit and both the driver and gunner ask 'did we get hit?' 'did you?' 'well cant tell' 'there it goes again' 'wheres that coming from??' and one by one all 3 got taken out by one T90 that was behind us, yet there was no way to tell except that it was coming from somewhere south and didn't even know it was a tank :/
I got teamswitched and saw the bragging of the tank crew that took everyone out later on.

I agree with this, it gets annoying not knowing from what direction the fire is from even if it's obvious like a tank round

Yes, I agree. Because it's pretty obvious that you are going to know where is the impact coming from, especially when we are talking about a tank shot.

agreed, at the very least IRL they would be able to tell from the force of the impact?

would also like to see more indicators of damage, period and I'm guessing this is possible since bleeding out happens out of vehicles....

How about the monitors get more and more static as the tank gets damaged? say at 30% the screens are pretty bad, at 15% the screens aren't useable, or at least the gunner screen isn't, or just when they get hit thereis a sudden static spike as the whole tank gets shaken up

hmm, i normaly check when our tank gets a hit... ok, i dont ever know from where, but smoke, go go go and take another way...

Shame for the 3 tanks that get wiped out... one of you guys had to chack the back from time to time... Then this shit wont happen :-)

A Question:

You guys know your gunner or driver? I mean is it a m8/friend or something like that?

Yesterday my m8 and me took a tank on quingling...

We took out 9 challenger 2 APC and some inf... Got killed one times from there mainbase TOW...(No we dont baserape them, it was there last flag)

And i wonder if some of the challenger crew´s talk togehter or only drived stupid arround...

If you ever had your same driver/gunner, its much better to handle a tank or 2 man esset...

agreed

There's no sound when your being slammed by lead in a chopper, I think itd be pretty noticeably noisy in there

Same goes for tank a distant pop and a lil shaking is the only clue you have that a sabot going 4000fps or summit has just whacked a huge chunk outta your armour about 3 feet from your head

Isn't there a metallic thud?

No there's a small 'boing' regardless of what projectile just impacted, even if it was a hand grenade.

Dude we looked in all directions, but didn't see anything resembling a tank and with Murphy's law at work, the SL tank got taken out first so the other two were pretty much screwed.
