Maps I have not played yet in .8

Post by charliegrs »

There are about 5-6 PR servers I play on that give me good ping times {mostly Texas teamplayers, battlearena servers, HOG, Blackwater, etc} And one thing Ive noticed is there are certain maps that I never see in rotation, and to this day have not yet played in .8 These include:
Qinling
Kashan
Al Basrah
Ejod Desert {I see it on skirmish mode sometimes but Im not a big fan of skirmish}
And a few more I cant remember off the top of my head.
Now I realize these are all older maps, and .8 is still pretty fresh and everyone wants to play the shiny new maps but I used to see these maps on my favorite servers ALL the time. I still havent used a bradley in combat yet! But anyway, my whole point of this thread is its not a complaint thread, Im just curious is anyone else having this problem? Or is this just mainly related to the servers Im playing on. Different people in different areas may get different sets of servers they can play on and maybe they have slightly different map rotations. Let me know, thanks.

But I love the big Kashan... 2 full tank squads going against eachother is great
Mad-Mike - Good photo's but why do u have 2 threads that are the same?
[R-CON]ReadMenace - Are you referring to the obvious double-post or the less obvious, high-resolution military photographs thread?

I played all of these maps, several times, in .8. I've only played Op Archer once, for some reason, though...

But yes, I do tend to play on the same servers, and I guess with that comes only playing the maps that happen to be on the rotation for those servers.

I like all maps, but kashan and quinling are high risk maps to admins, as they often empty our servers

EJOD and Al Basrah just feel old in comparison to newer maps

al-Basrah is the same **** as in 0.75, palace bridges getting blown up, occasional GB squad shooting Insurgents at mosque spawns and mostly camping on the hotel roof

Kashan requires a lot of patience from ALL players and therefore a lot of people will leave as soon as it comes up.

Having said that it can be one of the most enjoyable maps so long as you work together as a team to achieve your objectives.

Al Basrah I like altho I suspect thats a minority view. For me I enjoy being able to use the L85s which i think are superior to M4s (altho thats just me) but i think becos of the lack of servers using Al Basrah it doesnt get the players or the time to be given a chance.

The key is to avoid limiting yourself to only playing on whatever server, there are plenty of servers around and lots of good players too so if you search around you're bound to find one that you'll enjoy.

I would suggest the TG server for all of the maps listed as those are played regularly there (except al basrah) and T&T for maps like Al Basrah and Operation Archer.

Yeah, except when you go exploring servers, you're very likely to encounter one where both teams are a bunch of headless chickens running around and getting killed. I tend to play on servers where I KNOW I'll find teamwork, squads with decent SLs (or decent SMs to cooperate with the SL), teammates that work together (not only with the green guys, but with the blue ones as well), and squads that actually speak English and can be asked for help.

And then, there's also the PunkBuster issues that force me to restart my BF2 every time I want to switch servers, which really discourages me from doing so.

I only limit myself to servers that have playable ping times for me. Sure i have some favorites, but i definitly dont limit myself unless its has about 150+ ping.

I've not encountered this?? Shud probs d/l the latest PB updates.

By searching around I meant briefly when you start playing 0.8, and on these forums too, as theres plenty of info around as to which servers are best to play on. Obv you will inevitably encounter some smacktards running around, being idiots but persist and you shall be rewarded with quality maps and quality players to enjoy the game with.

i hardly ever saw archer back in .75 i think its because of there was a bug. i actually see it more often now, which is great because i absolutely love that map.

I haven't played Al Basrah or Operation Archer so far in 0.8.

But I will get to those soon enough - after all it's Saturday night ;-)

I sometimes avoid playing on Insurgency maps. For one I think insurgent weapons are sort of suckish (lets not get into this argument again) and the insurgents rarely use teamwork. On some maps the insurgents have to wait a really long time to see action. I'm also pissed off at how they show deaths on the score board. It makes the insurgents look bad because they die a lot.

Well, I see Al Basrah, Ejod and Kashan pretty often at the servers I play. Kashan is mainly at the 32-player mode. Qinling is quite harder to be seen (but I have played it like two or three times this week), but it's my favourite among the ones mentioned.
