New map - Darfur

Post by UncleSmek »

A big map, Around half desert and half city.
Airplanes flying over the tall buildings and big jets dropping off people over the sand fields of the desert.
Sudan 2010, The Sudanian Government have been overthrown and the UN and NATO troops have invaded the country at night in attempt to stop the rebells and clan leaders from getting hold over the City. The map is divided in two parts by a river and mountains.
One side with UN/NATO troops and consists of 1 fighter jet 1 bomber and 1 big Jet wich can carry around one squad and drop them of with parachutes.
4 HMWS,1 tank and 2 apc is located at the main base.
This kit is a special kit named: Airborne. As airborne you have 2 Smokes(one green one normal),1 Ak5 with 5 mags,3 frags,1 nightvision and the rest of the things all classes have in PR.
The Sudanian militia/inurgents have the usuall AK47,cars with MAchine guns and etc.
But the objective is like insurgency but the city is much more dangerous for the NATO/UN's then for the Rebells.
Wpn Caches are going to be placed ontop of tall buildings and as the Coalition tries to take it out the have to first of all secure the house and make sure there is no enemies in atleast 50 ft. They clear the area and then call on an air strike. Poof the building is down and on fire and there is 14 more chaches to go :) I leave the rest to you.

PS: Get on with the peeking system!!! :D

Looks like a good idea, however currently all the DEVs IIRC have projects, so unless you convince a CON, I suggest learning the Map Editor and doing it yourself :) Welcome to the forums :)

Where did the AK5 get into the picture? Although I'd like to have a gun which I've actually fired (except for the AT4 then) in PR. :D

darfur map : already been suggested
"airborne troops": been suggested a million times
large transport planes: been suggested a million times, not very likely to happen as it wouldnt work well with the bf2 engine from what I understand. not to mention one does not currently exist so it would have to be made, same with the sudanese milita.

honestly i like the idea of a darfur map, although i would want it more as a humanitarian intervention type thing. however, as with most map suggestions, the best thing you can do is learn the map editor and make it yourself as the devs are way too busy with other projects for pr.

The only problem is that Project Readlity is trying to make all the maps to be the same year or time period (ie 200 8) so there are only current weapons to that date (not 2010), so the map will have to be present day

Other than that its a good idea, does anybody know anyone on the forums who specialises in maps/modelling??
who said this? There is no time period in PR. There is no relevent time or date for that matter

i have plans for a map that is a desert with a central city. but its mainly for tanks and infantry, without CAS. :/

edit:Just after checking google map, theres nothing there....its a barren wasteland...a desert even (*ahem* :P )

Nothing of tactical use apart from a cluster of mountains and lots of flat open terrain. plus, every realistic map needs a kind of defining item to seperate them from the other maps, and starved corpses aint one of those things.

Wrong.. BF2 Focuses in 2010.. PR around it.. well, i never saw the Dutchs fighting the Chineses, do you?

And theres only less than 2 years of difference between today and 2010, and the M4 will not be changed to a Lazer Rifle.

Great idea. Give the US/NATO forces a camp to holdt, and put a spawn for 2 cobras in the base (delayed 5 minutes from start of game) and a couple tanks w/bunkers for them. Of course, if the USA loses a certain # of refugee tents it's over (like cache mode, except they're all in a fortified base).

like he said. it would probably be the most boring map for PR ever. its nothing but desert. it would look just like the old fallujah/desert storm map, which was the worst map ever for PR.

Have you played Forgotten Hope 2? If he meant a troop-carrying plane like the one in that, it might work quite well. It did in FH2, apart from when being flown by pillocks.

Well, like someone already said, P.R. focuss on our day fightin (Except for China) but NATO is more likely to attack China than Darfure. The genocide is going on since how many time now ? And no one care about it. ( i known its sad, but its a fact. )

And why its ALWAYS UNITED STATES VS XYZ. United Kingdom and Canadian Army play major role especialy for those kind of mission. No one remember the Sierra Leone mission ? only 1 single regiment of UK soldiers totaly over run rebels in the country... LOL.

anywayz United States troops will not go in Africa since the dramatic result in Somalia...
