[Task] Small mosque

For our Afghan styled maps we need a small mosque, nothing fancy, just a simple building with a small dome and 1 small minaret.

Its going to be placed in a village/compound and must blend with the surrounding area, be creative, minimalistic and dont use to much colour, Muttrah mosque is NOT what we need!

In fact it must even be a bit smaller then those displayed in the pictures.

And it must be destroyable!

i might try it,modeling a static as a beginner shouldnt be that hard

Are you sure about it being destroyable? The enterable one already led to some trouble on the forums, but people blowing the mosque for fun... I dunno...

You have a vallid point there worth discussing but the dillema is do we want to do the political correct thing and make ik not destroyable or are we going for gameplay and make it destroyable.

Rules of engagement states that coalition troops are not allowed to attack mosques, but insurgents do seek refuge in them.

It's realistic that a mosque can be destroyed. But I believe we've had discussions about this before somewhere on the forum. Or at least if a mosque should be enterable etc, because of the fighting, which isn't supported by conventional armies. We don't want to be a mod that sort of "promotes" the destruction of mosques, as that might give the wrong impression. On the other hand, if it were a church you could shoot to pieces entirely, I reckon less people would mind, when in fact it's the same: a religious building where people come together to share their belief and learn about it.

So I don't know. Perhaps make it non-enterable (not really worth it anyways considering its size, plus you'd have to model (etc) the insides of it as well). And perhaps a small part of it can be destroyed. You're not able to blow it up completely, but perhaps make it so that you can see that it's damaged. Cracks in the walls, pieces of the building lying around, etc.

Maybe this way you stay pretty realistic, but you're not "promoting" the destruction of religious buildings.

Well if it's just to help give a proper feeling of being in an afghan town while playing in that map then perhaps you should skip making it enterable and/or Destroyable. Besides you'd finish this building a lot faster that way and you save yourself from the possible criticism that would emerge because of the idea of fighting inside a mosque or blowing it up.

Do i need to make it liek in pics,or can i actually make something i want(ofcourse it will look like a mosque :P )
And about the model itself,im pretty new at moddeling but i need some help finishing it(if it ever will be)

try first to understand the basic's of youre 3d program ;) , try a simple house. and take later a look @ the mosq again.

If you make it destroyable, make it so the player loses points when he/she blows up the mosque... Because someone who blew up the mosque wouldn't escape without any trouble...

But, that's just my idea. Doesn't really matter though, and it would take a lot more time.

Yes, that was my idea as well.
Why not making am new aspect of gameplay?
Sometimes it might be useful to destry the mosque (weaponcaches in it or whatever) but then the Insurgents get really angry and geht some more suicide cars.

Just an idea, you can find some more solutions of course, but I think it would make the game more intersting if you are punished for destroying the mosque or loose the game because you can't finde the cache in it...

Personally i dont thign that is possible, i dont know this though, it would make gameplay a bit more interesting.

Hahahah, can just imagine some 70's cop drama like scenario. "Goddamn it Johnson, you blew up HOW many Mosques?!"

By the way, I think the Mosque in the first picture of the OP is alot bigger then it seems from the perspective it was taken, not that that really matters cos it shows what you want pretty well.

We already have the ability to do jihad attacks with cars and use IEDs, would a destroyable mosque be too much?

For me not at all, its only a game. But I respect the opinions of others.

Well this is a Reality mod. So In real life, usually Mosques can blow up. I think they can blow up in PR too :P
