Chinese Little bird

Post by HughJass »

i know its been suggested before but i really want to bring it up agian.

why can't it have a better gun?

a gun that actually can be used for ground assaults, and more effective to air units. The way that thing handles is already pretty wacky too.

also, the us littlebird is WAY better in anti air and ground assaults. Balance?

I agree, the Chinese LB is pretty useless, except for possibly spotting enemy positions, but you need a copilot to type that in chat (which very few people ever have). The guns on that thing don't do squat, either. I've strafed an enemy TOW hmmvee 10 times, only to have them answer back on Ventrilo "What? You were shooting at us? We never got damaged." What caliber are the guns supposed to be on it, .50?

On a more positive note, however, I'm afraid that I haven't found it to be hard to control. Now that may just be me, it may be that I use a joystick, or it may be something else. May I ask what you find hard about handling it? Not to offend, but I haven't flown it in a while. Does it roll/yaw too easily/badly? Or what?

You need to pretty mutch hovering to use the tail rudder. This and the better weaponry gives LB a huge edge if faced head to head (which should be avoided at all cost, as LB will win 90% of the time)

It's a scout choppa and should imho be used with tank or apc squad to spot those deadly tows, don't try to shoot with it :)

Best kills iw got one is 9 before I was shot down by next LB after 20 mins.
It gives huge scare factor thou every time it's in the air more than 3 mins which is the usual time.

High speed vehicle + low ROF weaponary = limited usefulness. Only exception being if the weapons have big splash damage...

about the control part, its not hard to control, but a lot of people say they have problems with it. i sometimes go into wierd spirals when doing really hard turns but that is it.

taking off sometimes may be funky, but that is due to server i belive. when you land, you take off but it takes off sideways, or does something strange.

Well I had a round last night on Qwai, playing as the Chinese. It was near the end of the round and we were going around capping the US last flag.

I decided to pick up the Chinese Chopper and flew around for a bit. I managed to land a friendly on the roof of the cap zone, but a US littlebird just took off and was coming in to strafe us. So my friend got squished when I took off but I managed to shoot down the enemy LittleBird without sustaining any damage.

Then my mate got into the Chinese APC and drove to production as the US were back there trying to cap it. As he was driving I was scouting the route he was taking and spotted an Abandoned US supply Humvee. Then I got to production before him and found infantry trying to build a FB. I strafed that once or twice and pretty much killed them all and the APC mopped up the rest of the infantry.

Then I ended up being the driver for the APC and landed the Chopper in a field.

So that Scout Chopper is not as useless as everyone thinks, and I found it handled rather well.

Oh, ok. Well, I've fortunately never experienced that, but if it was a problem I would think it's being addressed for v.85

As to the bird being used as a Scout helo, I completely agree that it should have that role. However, that's no rationalization as to the ineffectiveness of the guns. I'm not sure what damage they have on cars, if any, but I know that they don't seem to have the same power as a .50 cal. Shouldn't it have the same type of guns as the Eurocopter or at least similar in power?

I know how to change this. I always hated the handling and the guns, maybe I will try to improve it a bit for 0.85 if it is not already done.

i like the Chinese little bird, its guns where improved since 7.5. You can take out a co truck with those guns.

But the handling is weird
