[Vehicle] SISU XA-203 [WIP]

Post by FastWinston »

Image
It has begun! The initial progress will be slow as I am moving + Christmas time ;) I will need as much (confirmed) information and pictures as possible. I have seen the walk-a-rounds of the XA-180s and XA-203s at primeportal, but I am unsure what visual differences there are between these and between the XA-186 and XA-188 models, other than the obvious lack of swimming, added wire cutters, periscopes and a turret for both and the added armor for the latter.

I have seen what I believe to be a Norwegian XA-188 but I am unsure and haven’t seen this in any inventory list other then for the Danish and Dutch armies.

@ ice killer: I have never heard of that before, but I am quite new to modelling. Do you have a link explaning this? By the way it is only 4 vertexes, the bottom edge is extruded :)

Good to see some enthusiasm, Winston. But will we need a 2nd APC?
Sure you don't want to model a helicopter instead? ;)

APC is a transporting vehicle. This is a APC.
CV90 and SISU fulfill the same purpose.
I can only see the need for both if there was a big variaty of maps/geografi/terrain.

Although the SISU/Patria is more then a mere transport, its armoured and lightly armed) you cannot compare it to a CV90 because it doesnt have a heavy calibre main gun (it only has a .50) and its not tracked but wheeled, thus faster.

In Afghanistan based maps, you can use both systems on one mission, the CV90 as a IFV Infrantry Fighting Vehicle, to provide support for teams moving on a target and the SISU/Patria to provide MEDEVAC and a quick entry and gettaway.

Negative. The cv90 is an IFV - Infantry Fighting Vehicle, thuss capable of direct-fire support, while the SISU is an APC (as stated before) and its armament is merely used for self protection and the vehicle itself for transport.

I recommend that if the SISU have to get a role in this setting it is as an ambulance (XA-186) or an armoured engineer vehicle (XA-203).

And I see now that this have been pointed out.
