so much room...

Post by six7 »

i know this has been mentioned b4, but i think most vehicles in this game need to seat more people. look how much room is in the hmwwv

count the seats...

look inside the Mi-17 helo

This has to change. it looks like 4 could fit 10 people in the back of the heli plus 2 gunners, a pilot, and a co pilot.
the hmmwv has 4 seats and a gunner position plus the room in the back (maybe fit 2 more?).
Another question is why is the back taken off both the hmmwv and the vod? the vodnik is fully amphibious with that on and the hmmwv can be in water up to the gunner's hatch.
if hmmwvs or vods are ever made to give ammo like stated in some previous threads, then i can understand the back being taken off (for easy access)
IMO the hmmwv could be made to carry 6 people: 1 driver, 1 shotgun, 1 gunner, 2 passengers in seats and one guy in the back. either next to that guy or in the far back (currently the 4th position in the hwmmv) there could be boxes of ammo, grenades, mags, and AT rockets. sorry this is so long, its just annoyed me for the longest time

in real life the hind can carry like 16 people but can you imagine that many people parachuting on a flag.

lol yea. i think 9-10 people would be a decent number for balance's sake. 1pilot, 2 gunners, 1 squad in the back (10 if the copilot seat is added)

Not always. Static line jumps are performed from helicopters, also. Never heard of helicopters being used for a mass tactical jump, but they are used for paradropping small units. :)

The Mi-8/17 Hip can carry quite a few people in the back. The Mi-24 Hind, a rifle squad, but that is at the cost of some weaponry on the stub wings. What we would like to do is implement vehicles with operating rear ramps/doors and have "seatless" passenger compartments.

The HMMWV weapons carriers are also not arranged like that on the inside.

Yeah, the EA model does look a lot smaller than the real Vodnik.

Damnit, Baker, quit pwning me.

If you do implement seatless transports (which would be awesome), won't everyone die when the vehicle moves?

That reminds me, on the GH Test Server, I got two marines to get in the back of my HMMWV (I was Chinese), and looked back at them while they were prone in the back of the vehicle. They slowly drifted back into the air behind the vehicle, and I smacked into a building by accident, they came flying into the vehicle, and were both killed on impact

Yeah, the in-game Vodnik looks way too much like a van made by GMC

Perhaps you can cheat the system by creating a "new vehicle" inside the vehicle. Preferably for APCs and helicopters. Basically you add new enterable areas inside the vehicle. All the player has to do is walk inside the vehicle, find the correct "enter" areas and simply enter. This area is not really the same exact vehicle in terms of coding. However, its stuck to the main vehicle and will act as extra spaces.

I think something like this was done on BF1942's ships. It would even be nicer on APCs to have the main driver open and close the doors for players to walk in and take their places on these "secondary" areas. Same with boats as well.

What do you guys think?

I loved how they made the Higgins boats in BF1942. Wish the APCs could be the same in PR

Well, here's a photo showing one being retrofitted with a gunner's shield.

(Hi-res)

It's not used like a pickup truck (there are other HMMWV configurations for that), the soldiers all sit in the crash attenuated seats or in the gunner's position.

Wow, I never bothered looking up a real vod before. That EA model is waaay off. Definitely too tall and skinny and it's all jacked up like some rich kid's giant pick-up truck. That real one looks freakin' TOUGH compared to the wimpy minivan-with-gun that we get.

The real version looks like it would actually be on a battlefield and not driving 8 year olds to soccer practice
