Remove teamkill message

Post by Cassius »

Right now you get a teamkill message when you kill friendlies, at which point you know when to halt your fire. How about Removing that teamkill message ? Squadleaders carry colored smoke to signal a friendly fire accident or other means of communication can be used to achieve that.

I think the teamkill msg has to stay for administrative reasons however maybe the 'Check your fire' notification can be removed?

Nah, in that case I'd say gameplay>realism

Also, with the lack of inter-squad-voip, the "hold your fire!!1111" message is the same thing you'd otherwise get over teamspeak, delayed over teamchat, or, if we had it, inter-squad-voip.

The teamkill message is for administrators, but also for other players so they know that a certain player is making trouble, if one is.

Totally forgot about people who would abuse that to teamkill with impunity. Maybe the message can be removed and teamkillers be marked on the scoreboard ? It would not effect the effect removing the in game message has and the team can still see who is teamkilling.

Because one of the methods of reporting TKs is to take a screen shot and post it, if the TKs no longer display, catching smacktards becomes that much harder.

as a server admin, I would not support this, as a player it would be a neat feature.

Is there a way for TK messages not to come up if killed by aircraft?

Why the distinction? A smacktard can and will kill you with any weapon available to them, though Attack Helo guns are more common than bombs.

I don't like the no TK message idea, but your idea about putting number of TK's into the scoreboard is great. Admins could easily see who is racking up the TK's and who is mearly defending them-self from the TK'er, without searching through the console or chatting to the other team.

I'd say keep them, if only because it helps me to remember to think things through.
If I could TK without public announcement of the deed, I wouldn't do so on purpose, but I sure wouldn't be quite as careful with my fire.

It's also entertaining when someone flips a chopper, and you see them all scroll past. :3
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Well if teamkillers get marked on the scoreboard I mean permanently you can take a screenshot any time.
