so why the hell was the pistol taken away? IRL not only does a pilot have a pistol, he also has an M4! (at least i know we do in the Marines) whats the purpose? if one goes down in the field he will already be screwed because he is by himself, taking his weapons is just dumb. at least with a pistol he can hide waiting for rescue and defend himself. iirc he doesnt even have a damn knife!
