had 3 suggestion but i decided to separate them into their own threads so they could be discussed equally. https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f18-pr ... icles.html - https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f18-pr ... -kits.html
3. the destroying or overrunning the rally points.
explanation: i think rally points are to simulate the dropping of rucksacks and extra baggage and what not, right. so i think they should be places to rearm and re-spawn, but only to rearm to a certain amount. I've suggested this before but only in a response to another thread.
solution: i think the rally should be something like a weapon slot that gets place by say 3 members of the squad but in order to move this rally it should have to be retrieved picked up and moved to a new location. so hypothetically, lets say you have a full squad, that would mean that your squad could have 2 rally points(A team & B team) that the full squad could use, but if they get destroyed (no more over running) then its gone till those squad members that lost their rucksack (rally) can get new rucksacks but the other rally wouldn't have enough rearming points to rearm rucksacks. so they would need to find a crate or something.
compared to real life: if you leave equipment lying around in an unsecured area for the enemy to do whatever with, its very unlikely you will ever see that equipment again.
I'm not sure if this could work...just an idea i had
some might think this would cross the line between fun realism and to much realism, but everyone has an opinion
your thoughts.....

Re: new rally system?
Really, really like this idea.
Allthough I'm not sure if it's possible to make objects that you can drop and then pick up again. But since the ropes work like that it might be possible though, but we'll need input from someone who knows that.
And then I don't know if it's possible to code so that if three seperate objects is in a certaing proximity to eachother they make a spawnpoint.
Also this would mean that one of the more usefull things with having an SL with an officer kit would go away, but still I like this idea.

The rally does not simulate bags dropped by soldiers. It represents a reinforcement randezu (however you spell it) point. When enemies get in proximity it resembles the enemy overrunning the area.

rendezvous. most armies call them rally points, tho I have heard French Canadian soldiers call them rendezvous points and some Americans refer to the as Regroup Points.Craz3y|Assasin wrote:The rally does not simulate bags dropped by soldiers. When soldiers are trained, they are trained to look at the RP after they walk past it so they will know what the spot looks like when they are running to it after it all goes to shit.
But your description of the metaphor is bang on. There is no "backpack" on anybody's back being dropped... there is nothing to retrieve... it's a metaphor intended to facilitate better game play and squad level self defined spawning.

Real Army you basically have 2 types of rally points. A in route rally, which you the SL points out while your moving as a fall back point in case you take fire and have to regroup, and objective rally points which is where you drop all your extra krap off before you move into possible combat.Craz3y|Assasin wrote:The rally does not simulate bags dropped by soldiers. I love the suggestion as it would make the game more realistic. I don't like the A&B team too much because there are not enough people in a squad IMO to make that effective. Other than that great idea.

Re: new rally system?
How about making the rally points invisable, or very small -- they get overrun easily enough as is.

If theye were invisible or very small though you would never be able to find the enemies, especially on a woodland map. They are murder to find.
If you just tell the squad to take a different route away from the rally before you start to fight you have no problem.

Re: new rally system?
If you want to be realistic about it they should be over a bigger area. in the field you wouldn't just pile your rucks up that like screaming to the next enemy that walks by that your in the area. But I like the way the bags are now its a nice compromise.
