Join Golden Camel Land server.
Tell in-game chat that you're new to PR and need a helping hand.
I assume you have read the wiki, guide and manual?

Truth, if you want to learn how to use any sort of vehicle, go to a Training server first, because you can really ruin a match if you crash that Frogfoot at the wrong moment.
For simple infantry combat, I recommend a real server, with people doing real matches.

Re: Help a complete newbie.
ONLY join a training server for vehicle training.
I would join a squad called "ENG VOIP" or "VOIP1" or something along those lines. Just straight up say you're a newb (not a noob) and ask for instructions. Come in as a medic if your squad is going as infantry and ask questions. Most servers have one or two sqaud leaders who are willing to break the newb phase in your PR experience.

To be honest I managed to kill a member of my own side before being wiped out three times by my own side. Only saw the enemy once.
Still, I guess its down to practice.

Same here... add me to your xfire (ghettostankk) and i'll be happy to help you out in-game. reading the manual is great, but it sure helps when you have someone on your squad talking to you and helping you understand the rules.Tomato_With_A_Rifle wrote:Matcore do you have an xfire and i mic? if so i could help you out understanding things

Re: Help a complete newbie.
Matcore, once you have the basics (kit selection/requests, spawn selection, basic use of weapons and equipment) down, join a real server. Play Rifleman, or medic if the squad already has one, and tell people you're new. If you're open and honest about it, they won't get angry by relying on you to do things you're not ready to do.
You will learn a lot more from real people than you could otherwise.
Also, try the TacticalGamer server. It might be worth looking for people with the TG tags, but it could also backfire - there are some really helpful people, but also a couple of people who wear the tags, but aren't very nice to new players. The real attractiveness of TG is that it's a server where for the most part people do their best to play PR the way it's meant to be played, not as you might be able to play it by exploiting problems with it.
Also don't bunny hop. Just don't.

I would also advise you to stay away from Insurgency servers for at least a week or so. The game mechanics are pretty out of the ordinary. Not your straight forward attack here, defend here type of thing.

Hey Matcor,
I just joined up yesterday and I found that the folks on the Virginia PR server were very helpful. Find yourself a squad with a squad leader who likes to give a lot of directions and like the above posters said just explain that you're new. Follow your orders and you'll learn quite a lot about the game simply from doing that.
I had originally registered on the forums to post a thank you to those folks, but I can't remember the names of my squadmates, so I'll just thank all of you who are patient with the new crowd. Catch you on the battlefield.

Read Manual First then go to a training server to practice what you have learned then you should be soon ready to enter the Fray, good luck!

Re: Help a complete newbie.
start basic !! do not crew ANY vehicle . just join a squad called "teamwork" or "voip" and dont even request kits, just be rifleman. crawl before you start running !!!
(figuratively , not literally

Re: Help a complete newbie.
Find an infantry squad on a real server, and come in as a rifleman or medic. Follow SL orders, and don't go off and try to do anything on your own. Don't request any kit at all, and do not attempt to crew armored vehicles or aircraft. When you're new, you should stick to just being a basic grunt, as it means that people won't be depending on you, and thus won't get as mad when you make a mistake.

Re: Help a complete newbie.
Wow. Thats all I can say. This game certainly has a steep learning curve but I can see why people get so into it.
Just a shame I cannot spend more time playing but I am very very impressed. And I can see why people get annoyed with some who seem to always try and fly helicopters and crash within seconds. Such a waste of a good resource.
