About to give up!

I need help! Whenever I try to run PR, that Battlefield 2 screen comes up, and nothing! I tried EVEYTHING REinstalling PR, Repatching, Reinstalling BF2(then it decided to work) and now nothing, and I just had a reformat and I did EVERYTHING possible to fix it!

Strange how BF2142 works... the only things I have installed since my reformat, is BF2, PR, BF2142

Do you have BF2 patched to 1.41?

try givin us some more info. it will make it easier for us to help you.

also, i know this may sound really strange, but i cannot get bf2 to run unless i have the bf2 demo installed. i have no idea why, but now part of my installation process for bf2 is first installing the bf2 demo, then bf2 then the 1.41 patch, then PR. it never fails me after that. so you may want to try that too. you can get the bf2 demo from battlefield2.com

Okay, well I install BF2, patch, then PR, then nothing happens when I try to run it, that splash screen or whatever its called, comes up and then goes away, then nothing, A friend of mine said to get CCleaner(Think thats how it is) and I am currently installing BF2 and will be patching it as soon as its done, then PR( Hope to god it works)

I tried uninstalling and installing PR core and levels

uninstalling PR and repatching
reinstalling BF2
Patching it again

oh yeah, and BF2142 did the same thing, so I think it has to do with Battlefield either that, OR my Windows XP clearly reformat, just hates me playing the Battlefield series


I'm on Disc 3 now, I hope it works!

EDIT: It does NOT work, Ima try downloading the Demo of BF2 and see it if it works.

You are not really helping us help you...
Proper etiquette requires you to tell us your operating system and hardware specifications
If you are patching properly, it may be a RAM issue

Sounds similar to a problem my brother was having. Make sure your monitor's refresh rate is at 60 hertz, otherwise BF2 wont run. He bought a new laptop and unluckily his monitor is set to 59hertz.

How would I set it to 60 hertz? And I was able to run PR since .5 and all the way through.

Also, I just had a reformat and it was working, until yesturday, I have not download any files, and everything is up to date.


I got it at 60 Hertz, and still nothing, I even got the Demo, still nothing. Ima try to do what Charlie said, if at then it doesn't work, I give up.

Sounds like a resolution/refresh rate problem.

Make sure youve updated your monitor drivers, and all your gfx card drivers - then make sure that you have no unusual settings in your gfx card control panel.

Check what resolution BF2 is trying to start at - you can see in the video.con file in this folder :

G:\Documents and Settings\space\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default

if you had an old install of bf2, and uninstalled it, then try manually deleting the bf2 folder in progam files, then try deleting the bf2 folder in my documents.

forgot to mention, you said you did a reformat. make sure you got ALL the necessary drivers for your computer. im talking motherboard drivers, graphics card drivers, everything. even BIOS.

I tried it, and didn't work, I was playing fine yesturday, and today, nope, but im about to give up becaues its not working AT ALL EVERYTHING is updated.

After alot of hours coping and trying to fix, IT FINALLY WORKS!
