Combat Engineers - Ever used?

Post by Who Dares Wins »

Since their repair ability (Which I can see why) was removed and CE's made a limited kit i've almost never seen them used in a single match since 0.85 except a couple of times on Kozleks (Which there are preety damm usefull).

Has anyone ever actually used them in 0.85 yet?

Yep, sometimes i do Logistic squads, me and a friend, i grab the enginner being the SL, and he goes with a rifleman kit, we place FB's, deliver suply's, place AA on the map's that need's it(Muttrah we usualy destroy cobra's), repair apc's with the truck and lay minefield's.

To be safe you need to work only behind your team advance.

On fallujah west me and some clan mates where operating as the EOD clearing grenade traps and mines, and taking down chaches.

Altough i think combat engineer is better of with 4 slams than with 1 pack c4.

I use Combat Engineer as an Explosive Expert, blown bridge, mine road, remove mine... repair light vehicle, carry the LOG TRUCK... In fact the way Dev want it to be play.

I hardly ever seem to be able to get the kit when its needed...so som1 is going engineer I guess

But when I do go engineer I like to do it on muttrah, get an airlift in with another engineer, use the supply crate to mine up some of the roads to catch some trucks etc.

C4ing roads on OGT is one of the most fun things ever

basically I use it as a spec opz/area denial kit

also, iirc chech CE has trip wires, so he's pretty useful at the tunneys on kozelsck.

On Muttrah as MEC I will use this with friends being squad leaders and using both mines and tank traps to cut off whole sections of the city from Vehicles. You can really funnel the LAVs toward AT ambushes if you place the FOBs in the right spots with wire/mines. I've also used it on that map to disable mines for apc access.

I've also mined the mountain passes east of the MEC main as the US on kashan by having the blackhawk drop a crate for me.

The most awesome kit ever, I used it alone to go around Basrah a Brit and built firebases by myself for the blue mob spawn at, since the team failed ;'(

I have used it only once, and that was when an insurgent got up and mined our APC(I know, epic fail).

So I bail out and kill him, request the engineer kit, remove the mine, swap back to the creman kit and drive off :D

I've used it once. In Muttrah as the MEC and found its really effective to use to insurgent tactics.

The MEC team was pretty well tits up. I was pretty tired so I used it in my old insurgent style.

I'd throw down a mine in the open at an intersection and lay down a pack of C4 on the most obvious way around (slightly hidden). Wait for the APC to come by and if he notices the mine catch him with the C4 when he tries to go around it.

Oddly enough? It works pretty well.

I see them a lot, especially on defense. They have mines and C4, so they are extremely helpful in levels with lots of narrow spaces for vehicles, like Jabal.

Is it the kit that used to have the Shotgun with the Faction Rifle?

If so, Yes, I have used it before, I used to use it a lot when it was still available for free selection.

I loved using that kit, It had the better weapon then the pistol that the Officer had :P

Combat Engineer FTW!
no annoying scope, mines and c4 - all you need is a fully reloaded Logistics Truck and a good parking spot.
On Heroes, map Kozelsk I destroyed 8 Trucks, 3 Technicals and 1-2 APC thingies and I guess a few Chechens.
A great job if you like watchin documentaries and playing PR at the same time.

btw, tasmanian devil babies look gros. :)

On tad sae, we used the C4 to place a safezone. Surpressive fire would make incoming hostiles dive for cover and the c4 blow them in the air.
