That would ruin the experience as this equation will explain.
New Player+ Project Reality= Bad Gameplay.
I like the people who want to play. Just not the people that get the sniper kit or marksman kit all the time.

Training system needed first before an overflow of new players hop ingame
Which is why I think we need some sort of veteran-recruit teaching system. You can teach a new player all he needs to know for basic infantrywork in 10 mins, as opposed to them reading the manual for an hour.
Well, might not take an hour. But it sticks better when you try it out ingame as opposed to remembering what you've read. Although you should go over the manual anyway!

Lots of new players makes gaming hard, but it passes.
I got my RL mate in to PR, but I do think that PR should not make things 'just to get new players' we have a good playerbase and the objective of the mod to promote teamwork and realism while preserving gameplay is the way.

IMO, the marksman is a squad level weapon, not l337 sniper. I actually encourage my squadmates to utilize the marksman kit, but only on the condition that they use it as it was intended for, which would be sticking with the squad at all times to provide long range support/cover fire. I find it just as useful as the autorifleman.Feuerwaffen wrote:That would ruin the experience as this equation will explain.

I'd not want all kind of FPS players attracted to PR.
Tactical shooters, yea. If players who enjoyed stuff like Raven Shield come over here, awesome.
But CS and stuff... There many good players there, but most just want to shoot things.
Edit: I'm not saying "teamworky" CS players are not welcome!

It would be cool if we could set up an actual boot camp server as opposed to training servers that are just mayhem. I don't know if it would be possible to have at least one dedicated boot camp server where experienced players could go and teach the newer players, hands on.
The server would have to be very well moderated on a permanent basis or flagged (like a lifegaurd flag) if it was not populated by an (official?) trainer.
I would love to see this an I would be first on board as a trainer/moderator to teach the noobs.

I can just imagine all the CoD players trying to bunny hop round the map. I like the CoD single players but hate the multi player mentality.
It takes a certain kind of person to play PR which there aren't many of in the gaming world.

Re: We should encourage FPSers to try out PR v0.85
Actually, after tonight ive realized we need to SERIOUSLY address the problem of completely new players hopping onto deployment servers and attempting FLYING.
What shocked me to realization was one massive FAIL round on Muttrah tonight, Tcombat server. The flying was horrendous.
My apologies to the very few pilots who get caught in this rant that actually knew what they were doing.
Pilots asking about "warmup??", just about every damn helo flipping on the carrier, the cobra going down within 2 minutes. The best part was watching them try to land in the mountain pass, when me along with the rest of my squad (led by imchris) watched an LB plop right down on the ground, which was of course anything but smooth terrain. What these people don't realize and continue to not realize is that landing on the slightest uneven terrain, you're not takin off alive!
Also watching huey pilots try to land infantry on cliffsides when there's a perfectly open clear spot at the foot of the hills.
AND, being called an idiot by a helo pilot squad leader (on chat, mind you, squad leading without a mic.) because I got pissed and ranted at an idiot squadmate who flipped an LB 10 seconds after hopping in it, saying that "his joystick was unplugged stfu ***" (a likely story). This squad leader calling me an idiot for getting pissed at clueless pilots. I got a right to be pissed; these people are ruining the fing game!!!
And still bitching, seeing a new player on my team discussing in all chat for people to forgive him as it's his first time playing (on deployment, mind you. No training servers for this guy!) and having an enemy (obviously new player) respond "no rly it's ok I play straight from bf2 and there's not mch differnt". And he was serious too!!
I epic facepalmed alot tonight. If any mod could check out my "instructor" thread in the help forum and give it some serious thought. Because I would GLADLY teach a class of nubs general gameplay and protocol on the weekends/possibly weekdays to curb the amount of clueless vBf2ers hopping ingame and fucking around.
Rant over. I think volunteer instructors teaching classes on training servers is really the only idiot solution atm.

You really, really, really do not want a major migration from the CS:S crowd.
I have enough headaches as it is without dealing with 12 year old voices screaming in my headphones.

Ive probably played CS and TF2 about 20x more than PRSpec_Operator wrote:I'd not want all kind of FPS players attracted to PR.
