VTOL / AV-8B

Post by Fraggle »

Alcohol is abundent, But whilst it's effecting frame of mined.. endulge.

Even tho the GAU-12U "Equalizer" 25 mm ? isn't as it should be..... the Harrier is a wonderful piece of kit.

Ok.. maybe not.. but it's close.

Sounds.... Engine is nice.. but listen closer.. sounds like a *till/cash register* and the dude behind the cash desk pressing the feed button.... anoying when drunk... very anoying when sober.

GAU.. just make it shoot where it's ment too.

All other Armament's.... nothing to see.. move along... seem's as is.

Take off (Using a runway).... this take's time but can be done with practice.. with or without stick.

Landing.... omph

Landing so far has been to dump the vehical.... bad.. very bad....(training severs).

It take's time to adjust, and time is what's needed.

Landing the Harrier is becoming easyer... with time...Its not an A-10.. it's also not an F16, it's inbetween, which is where the approach valocity is... damn right in the middle.....

As is... the AV-8B is a fine piece of work.. twitchy, Hard to master.. but in the right hand's... make's it fun.. alot of fun for all.

For the love of all thing still in Brit hands... get it active.

Just get the sounds sorted ;o)

Still drunk... blah blah blah.

Harrier isn't even fully coded. I wouldn't say anything about it yet. Did you notice how the gun doesn't even shoot the right direction?

Friends don't let friends post on the forums while drunk; that's all I have to say about that.

Oh, and ROFL. That too.

I should leave forum's alone when intoxicated.

After reading OP.. i'l try to clarify.

Engine Sound..... Theres a faint ticking sound looping at low speed (Hence the cash register comment).

GAU front gun...... Does not shoot forward.

Takeoff...... Taking off either by runway or vertical is easy to do.. just takes practice to take off using the full lenght of the runway.

Landing... Using the runway to land is not hard.. just needs practice.... Landing the A-10 the approach valocity is 60% throttle.... Using Fighter's/f16 you need 40% throttle, The Harrier is between... 50% throttle. Not hard to land at all after a bit of training.

It has been mentioned several times before that it is not fully coded... but in its current form.... the AV-8B is a joy to play with.

Yeah the harrier in 0.85 isn't coded. I fixed my own version, but its not like we've got any maps for it.

Ever thought Zatar-wetlands and Gulf-of-Oman were totally fit for Harriers?
Dunno, but a comeback of at least one would be good to showcase the awesomeness of the Harrier!

no your thinking of the f-35s. they took off in the same way. in fact i wouldnt mind them being added to pr, and the f18s too. the f35s will go into service soon i believe so i dont think its too unrealistic.

True but what about preparing it for upcoming 4x4km British maps such as Sangin or equivelant sized Marine maps?

It will vertically land : https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f141-a ... cally.html

The actual landing speed for it is just under 600mph. 590 will get the gear out and you can then approach the runway. Not sure about the % because it is differnt for me that you as I found out. ( I use a joystick, you might not)

I love the Harrier as much as the drunken pilot who started the thread. And lay off him. I drink and fly all the time :P I really should try to become a commercial airline pilot huh?

As far as the harrier fitting onto what map? I am almost positive I could VTOL land on any carrier, Matturah and Barracuda.... I can't say I can because I have never tried. But I can VTOL land the harrier on the bombing range bunkers with no prob(Kashan training). BTW, I didn't look to see who made the youtube vids on the Dev map w/ F16/EF2000- kudo's if you make one with the harrier and invite me to test with ya ;)
