New animations needed

Post by Jonathan_Archer_nx01 »

Iron sights
Make the front and rear sight post(or ring or whatever) go off when there is a deviation caused by moving. The more deviation for moving there is the less straighten out they should look. If it's hardcoded, then just make them look a bit off when waiting for deviation to decrease.

Optics
Same thing, just make them sway and shake. More deviation = more sway.

Reason: In PR, you sometimes get surprised how inaccurate the bullet you've fired was. You have to count seconds which is unrealistic. IRL the bullet go exactly where the gun is pointing so you know exactly when to pull the trigger, there's just a natural deviation.

Not really true though ofc it will be close but even if your poitning right at someone you have to take in account such as temperature, what your rifle is zeroed at, wind, fatigue, breath, war stress and the user in general alot can happen after you have pressed the trigger you can squish the trigger so you make a move with the rifle you can do alot of sorts of things with it when you press and before the bullet has gone through the barrel.

So its not the user the deviation is portrayin , but the other random stuff I mentioned.

EDIT: Ofc the bullet will go where the weapon points at, but tha might not be what you where aiming for.

@OP
The animators have better things to do than this. Unless you want to learn how to animate this is low priority.

That's not what I mean. Things like wind, temperature and so on are already represented by "minimum deviation" and I'm not suggesting to change deviation, I'm talking about this:

You're walking along street, spot the enemy, put the red dot on him, pull the trigger and then you see your bullet coming 5 degrees off the red dot. This just doesn't happen IRL. In PR you need to rest for a few seconds without making any movement before you can fire accurately. I'm just asking for filling this "deviation decrease time" with an indicator by adding some sway to the optical sights and special animation to iron sights.

I'm not sure how long it takes for deviation to reach its minimum after you have stopped moving but let's say it's 3 seconds, then we need a 3 - second animation of iron sight posts slightly leveling up and 3 second long swaying for optics.

Think of it as of a realistic indicator. Heavy Anti tank missiles have deviation indicators so why not assault rifles?
