I play BF2142 and BF2 - and now BF2PR... I'm used to FPS games.
I know how to aim and shoot. I was wondering if there is something that I am missing.
I line up the crosshair and shoot (hopefully at the enemy) and yet i cannot get kills. I did notice that the barrel end of the gun is almost completely independent of the rest of the gun. The cross hair moves too far to the left or right... I dont remember this being part bf2 - but does this affect aiming at all? I have been very careful to point aim and shoot. I may just be a noob - but it was driving me up the friggin wall.

Re: Aiming
1. There is no crosshair in PR
2. When you are using an optic, scope or ironsights, aim, pause, then shoot. Pause up to 5 seconds for minimum deviation with assault rifles - but you will be accurate enough after just two seconds for medium range combat. Wait 2 seconds between additional shots for maximum accuracy but again a slight pause is enough for sufficient accuracy at medium range. So learn to (1) aim (2) count 1...2...3 (3) then fire. for every shot.
3. Pressing WASD resets your accuracy so don't move when aiming

Re: Aiming
The weapons are quite inaccurate when you're moving while shooting. If you stand still for a few seconds (or up to 8 seconds, depending on the weapon - standard rifles take just about 2 seconds) before shooting, you'll be accurate.
Edit: Double-ninja'd. I fail.

Re: Aiming
Yup - I tried going prone and set my sites on incoming insurgents when I got gunned down by a guy standing out in the open! I was like WTF! I was steady alright... is it better to be standing (point, aim, wait shoot)?

Re: Aiming
let me guess......using the sniper rifle? not killing bodies?
well we have many guides here about using the sniper rifle but for a quick tip
once you get set up where you want to start shooting, hold down the #3 button, that's right above the E&W button...you will hear breathing once the breathing stops or 8 seconds have passes you are now as accurate as you can be and should start killing bodies. just keep holding down 3 until you have to relocate.

Re: Aiming
not a sniper... i always play a medic in all the battlefield series games. i like to keep my team alive if at all possible. problem is - i can't fend off enemy forces before reviving teamates - if I cant shoot them properly... i hate snipers... but i guess we couldn't win a war without them.Anderson29 wrote:let me guess......using the sniper rifle? not killing bodies?

Re: Aiming
Unless you had the sniper rifle or something along these lines, there should really have been no issues with accuracy. Maybe it was high latency? Hitbox errors?
Edit: Doh, I'm late again. Okay, as medic there really shouldn't have been too much of a problem. Try it on a LAN server to get used to the deviation, though it will be lower there due to BF2's sillyness. If it wasn't lag, it must have been just bad luck.

Re: Aiming
Or extreme noobness... Finally got a chance to try the game out yesterday with some guys in my community. We played on a server in chicago so my ping was pretty normal from new york on cable. I'll just keep at it - atleast there are no stats... so i can't worry too much about getting up to speed. Not that its going to take me long - every game has its own rules on physics. Thanks for the words of wisdom guys!

Ever seen those scope things on the top of most rifles in the game?$kelet0r wrote:1. There is no crosshair in PR
Anyway, the bets thing you can do is to pace yourself like skeletor said, if you fire too quickly or too soon after moving it will make your overall accuracy worse. Plus the effects make each other worse too, so if you run round a corner and blaze full auto then you will have the negative effect of having just ran round a corner AND firing too quickly.
Wait before firing and then wait a little after each shot and you should be fine, remember to lead your target a little too and compensate for bullet drop at longer ranges. Also standing/crouching/prone makes alot more difference in PR then BF2, again switching between stances mean you have to wait to ready your weapon. Unfortunately these effects don't look like they are happening because complex animations showing how unsteady your weapon is at any point in time aren't codable with the engine, either that or they're very difficult to make, can't remember which.

Re: Aiming
Aim down your sights and count to 3-5. than fire depending on what gun your useing the bullets usaully come out just below the top/bttm point.
