What I understand by your "every 3 second" would be a tracer round every 3 rounds fired.|D|-Max wrote:You need to add muzzel flash it would be so much better![]()

There're a lot of details that are being worked on. I don't recall if this particular detail was one of them. Even if it ends up not being one of them, I wouldnt be surpriced to see it in the future
Terranova also makes a point there. And btw, all those excesive muzzle flashes are seen in movies. RL weapons are not as "LOOK I AM HERE!!" as Hollywood ones

Like someone said before, the only time you'll really see muzzle flashes is at night.
As far as I know, only LMGs and HMGs have tracers, not your average rifle. Am I right in this assumption? I've never heard of an M16 with tracers.

Yeah you can use tracers on an SA80 which uses standard NATO 5.56 mm but it scares the **** outta you if your not expecting it on a range!!AznLB wrote:No, it wouldn't be better.

They're mainly to assist with accuracy. If you're firing at bullseye and you're missing, you can adjust accordingly to the trail of the tracer rounds. Like someone said, they're mainly used in machine guns so they can get the best accuracy by adapting to where their rounds are heading, but they're also used to calibrate scopes and stuff. With BF2's random accuracy physics, there's not much point using them, especially as wind conditions have no effect on anything, but it'd still be a nice touch.

Your actually not on point on this one. I had tracer rounds for my M-4. At first I had one tracer for every 3 rounds. But then it got crazy dirty when I fired it, so I just stuck 3 tracers in the bottom, and loaded it up with regular rounds.AznLB wrote:No, it wouldn't be better.

They are used to signal where the enemy is at. And slightly with accuracy. You can always put in a tracer as your first shot and get an idea of where the round is going, so you can account for wind and **** like that.Malik wrote:They're mainly to assist with accuracy. You usually get your accuracy off a range shooting at targets. And they are used in almost every weapon, except for handguns.
And i've never seen anyone calibrate a scope with tracer rounds man. That's just rediculous cause wind, range, and the trajectory of the rounds will mess that up.
And nowadays you don't even need tracers, unless you don't have nods and IR lasers. Those take care of the job at night.

part of the reason tracers are used in night battles is that you can't see shit through iron sites when its dark. Tracers allow for you to see where you rounds are going. Most recommedation when putting tracers in magazines is ever 3rd or 5th. Alot place 3 at the end of the mag so they know when they need to reload.
tracers are used in all munition sizes. m16 or saw or anything.
