Death Match Mode

Post by Rapid12 »

Where's the 'reality' in that I hear you ask.... BUT! The reality is in the shots, hits, dyeing, gun actions etc. Not who is fighting who. (I'm surprised you've got away with replicating real life conflicts around the world) If you did a map that was every man for herself, maybe a training map, you would be onto a winner.

I love your 'team work' emphasis in this game, I love the intenseness this game brings, but at the same time I'd love all your 'reality' coupled with a bit of... shoot what moves!

It'd be good practice, a good training map.

Your thoughts?

I'll say I'm joking if it makes you happy, but I'm not joking. A training map for purely offensive actions would be good imo. New players would learn quicker, thus building up the community much faster.

Your reply gives the impression this game is exclusive. Sure you don't want the r'tards who teamkill for vehicles etc, but a map in which new players can sharpen up their offensive play has got to be a good thing, no?

Free for all is by no means realistic.

Wutwutwutwutwut?

Project reality is about prortraying realistic situations. It's all about the team effort. I can't believe I'm saying this, because I thought that was straight forward.

Oh, and,

Well atleast he tried :P We cant blame him for that.

But mate if you really like to play a Deathmatch game you have CoD4-5 CS etc. PR would just.. not, ever, never fit into the deathmatch style.

^None of the games you listed have official free for all modes, I know CS at least has some mods for it though.

I suspect you're not refering to the same thing the OP is, kind of like in SAMP people refer to any unwarranted kills as 'deathmatching'.

I don't believe you have, we just had different ideas of what deathmatch means.

I figure deathmatch 'officially' is a mode that isn't dependant on whether teams are involved or not, with the main goal being to simply kill. That might be exactly what the developers at id (afaik deathmatch comes from doom and quake) intended it to mean.

I've traditionally associated the word deathmatch with free for all, as I assume the OP does as well.

The topic should be named free for all mode to avoid such confusion, but I'm expecting it to be locked pretty soon anyway. :P

I dont think its a fail, I just think it should stay a trainning map.

Although we dont want to promote non-strategic lonewolfing, so I probably wouldnt want it available.

I just want to get better at it FFS. AT present the training maps give me about 5 seconds of life before I'm blown up by 'piwots' (pilots). There's not even a range to get used to your guns, man.

I just want something in which I can engage in some infantry targets, and when I die I want to be able to return to the fighting without having a 2 mile jog across jungle/desert. (not interested in stats)

Once I'm at a reasonable level, I could then move on to some of the tactical roles. (which I love btw, I just don't like being a hinder because I'm such a fail at this game currently)

Oh and, I started life as a gamer playing BHD, their Death Match mode varied from small maps with 40 r'tards letting rip with bazookas (a death per second), to long games of sniper stalk-out over short & long distances, with as few as 3 players. Now that was intense, it both taught you how to be stealthy and how to shoot. The former I hated, the latter I loved.

One thing you could do is get onto a normal server, to start with perhaps one playing a mainly infantry focused map like Asad Khal, Operation Ghost Train or Bi Ming, Tad Sae or even Assault on Mestia, get into a good squad (you might not find one at first but you will eventually) and get some decent squad based infantry fighting going. Once you get to grip with the teamwork/weapons/general inf tactics at a squad level move up to try one with more assets such as Qwai River, eventually working up to maps like Kashan. Infantry focused maps can give you kind of 'intense' experience you're looking for, expecially if you are working in a good squad and have effective medics/a good SL, with the added teamwork factor that PR provides. It can be a good way to get used to some of the basic machanics within the game.

The players you play with can make the difference between an amazing game and a boring one, if you're not already in a clan or playing with a few mates regularly I would advise doing this, it really adds to the experience. Using Mumble can make it easier to get to know other players too.
